I had the opportunity to do a first test of the Boost INDY VR1 Dynamix at SnowShoot 2024, and it was literally love at first sight. From the very first kilometres, I knew this snowmobile was going to define my next season. So it was without hesitation that I decided to spend winter 2025 on this machine. And it’s safe to say I was not disappointed.
A Memorable Season With the Polaris Boost INDY VR1 Dynamix
Despite a winter that took its time to really get going, I enjoyed every second spent at the controls of this snowmobile. Whether it was on the winding trails of the Bas-Saint-Laurent region, on more open terrain or on long rides, the Boost INDY VR1 Dynamix always lived up to expectations.
The Patriot Boost engine is a real gem. It delivers incredible acceleration, almost instant throttle response and predictable behaviour, even when you push it. There is a slight delay when you get on the throttle, but it is almost imperceptible. At legal cruising speeds, the sound remains muted, pleasant and non-intrusive.
Of course, with that much horsepower on tap, you always have more than you need in Québec… but when I had the chance to ride in New Brunswick, where the speed limits are not the same, I fully enjoyed every ounce of power this engine can deliver.
Dynamix Suspension: the Cherry On Top
The semi-active Dynamix suspension brings a clear advantage to the Boost INDY VR1. It allows you to get the most out of the snowmobile’s potential. In corners, you can clearly feel the front end staying stable and firmly planted, which makes it easier to lean into the turn and provides exceptional control. The front end literally feels glued to the ground.
On rougher stretches, the suspension does an excellent job. It absorbs most of the bumps and dips efficiently, delivering remarkable comfort even after several hours of riding. The change in behaviour between the different modes is noticeable and useful—you can switch from plush comfort to a sportier handling feel in an instant.
The only small improvement I would suggest would be to move the mode selection button from the console (under the handlebar) and integrate it into the control block on the left side of the handlebar. This would allow you to keep your left hand on the handlebar when changing Dynamix suspension modes.
Gauges and Controls: Technology at Your Fingertips
When you sit behind the handlebar, it’s impossible not to notice the large 7S display and the Ride Command system. This touchscreen is both modern and intuitive. It brings together a host of practical features that greatly enhance the riding experience.
Personally, I have a soft spot for the GPS display with the snowmobile trails. The map is clear, smooth and lets you see your route at a glance. The Group Ride function is just as brilliant! Basically, when you ride with other Polaris snowmobiles equipped with RIDE COMMAND technology, you can see the location of each machine on the map. A real game changer for safety and group coordination.
Configuring the screens is simple and intuitive. In just a few minutes, you can customize the display according to your needs: engine information, suspension mode, navigation or grip temperature. Speaking of which, the precise adjustment of the heated grips and thumb through the screen is a real plus. No more settings that are too hot or too cold: after a few tries, you easily find the perfect temperature and keep it for the rest of the season.
Under the screen, the large storage compartment is an addition I particularly appreciated. It is surprisingly spacious and keeps its contents dry—and even slightly warm. It is ideal for storing your phone, spare gloves or a water bottle. The latch that allows you to tilt the screen to access the compartment is sometimes a bit stiff, but the mechanism remains solid and reliable.
The handlebar control blocks are well designed. Their ergonomics make them easy to use, and you quickly get used to the location of each button. Even with thick gloves, you can change modes or adjust accessories without fumbling.
Riding Position: Ergonomics That Inspires Confidence
I love the riding position provided by the Matryx chassis. As soon as you settle in, you feel as if you are truly one with the machine. The posture is slightly more upright than on many competing models, and the higher seat offers exceptional visibility on the trail and on the 7S screen.
This ergonomic layout significantly reduces fatigue during long days of riding. The comfortable seat also helps maintain a natural posture, without unnecessary strain on the back or legs.
The footrests offer excellent traction, helping to keep your boots firmly in place, especially in corners. This stability inspires great confidence, particularly when you are linking together twisty sections or fast turns. The snowmobile responds precisely, and the rider constantly feels fully in control.
In short, the Matryx chassis delivers a riding position that perfectly blends ergonomics, comfort and control, making every ride feel both enjoyable and natural.
A small detail to revisit
If there is one thing I would like to see Polaris improve, it would be the mirrors. While they integrate perfectly with the snowmobile’s design, they are not adjustable. A system allowing the angle to be changed on both axes would be greatly appreciated, as not all riders have the same body type.
My Verdict After a Full Season
After logging thousands of kilometres at the controls of this 2025 Boost INDY VR1 Dynamix, I can say without hesitation that this snowmobile has won me over. It is an incredibly versatile, powerful and refined trail model that offers a perfect balance of performance, comfort and technology.
If you are looking for a snowmobile with which you can devour hundreds of kilometres of trails while enjoying precise handling and superior comfort, the Boost INDY VR1 Dynamix definitely deserves a top spot on your shortlist.
I would like to thank the manufacturer Polaris Industries for making this test ride possible.
