ToggleIt is with immense pride and deep honour that I commit to participating in the second edition of the Expedition of the First Nations, scheduled from January 27 to February 10, 2024.
My role will be to cover this exceptional event and provide you with a detailed daily report on the progress of this remarkable 3250 km journey.
The Reconciliation Epic: A 4200 km Journey Across Indigenous Quebec
In the inaugural edition, a distance of 4200 km was covered through various Indigenous communities and nations in Quebec. The expedition aims to convey a message of reconciliation leading to healing.
Last year, around fifty participants from Anishnabe, Atikamekw, Cree, Innu, Naskapis communities, as well as non-Indigenous individuals, gathered. They paid tribute to the missing children of residential schools, the disappeared women, and the late Mrs. Joyce Echaquan, who hailed from the community of Manawan.
Towards New Horizons
This year, I will be present to complete the circle by visiting the remaining communities and towns, with approximately the same or even more participants.
The event will be more festive and family-oriented than the first edition, and open to all, as 75% of the route will be on the trails of the Quebec Federation of Snowmobile Clubs.
Only 25% of the route will be off-piste, providing a unique experience for new participants guided by the best Indigenous and non-Indigenous guides in Quebec.
As in the first edition, we will visit 16 communities and towns during this second journey. This is a great opportunity to foster fraternity and healing between our Nations. Meet and encourage the participants when the expedition passes near you.
