Arctic Cat’s 2027 snowmobile lineup is coming in strong—and it marks a true turning point for the brand. Just a year ago, the manufacturer’s future was still raising plenty of questions across the industry. Rumours and uncertainty about the direction of the company fuelled conversations among dealers and riders alike. Today, that rough patch clearly feels like it’s behind them.
The tide has definitely turned. Arctic Cat now projects a confident vision and a clear, coherent strategic stance. The trend is obvious: getting back to the roots that built the brand’s reputation in the first place. A return to its original DNA—raw performance, toughness, and that rebellious spirit that has always set Arctic Cat apart.
I witnessed that comeback first-hand at the latest Hay Days in Minnesota. The fan response was nothing short of outstanding. Around the booths and prototypes, the energy was real, and the lively discussions made one thing clear: confidence is back. Bright eyes and long lines of curious riders confirmed the flame never truly went out.
The 2027 models fit perfectly into that renewed momentum. Arctic Cat seems determined to blend heritage and innovation to win back riders’ hearts. This is more than a simple refresh—it’s a statement to the industry: the brand is back, true to its roots, and ready to write an ambitious new chapter.
Looking ahead—without losing sight of the past
Nostalgia is a powerful force. When an iconic name returns, it instantly sparks memories, emotion, and a whole era that many associate with their best moments. This goes far beyond the snowmobile world—you see it constantly in the automotive space, where legendary nameplates come back to appeal to both longtime fans and new buyers. These comebacks resonate with purists—those who grew up with a brand and strongly identify with its history.
In Arctic Cat’s world, that approach makes a lot of sense. Bringing back legendary names is more than a nod to the past—it’s a way to reignite a strong identity built over decades of innovation and performance. Riders don’t connect only with a spec sheet; they connect with what a model represents and the legacy it carries. A name can bring back racing wins, unforgettable rides, or a golden age of the brand.
Is it a strategy to erase the Textron era? The question comes up immediately. Still, it feels more accurate to see it as a move to reconnect with the fan base through familiar, reassuring markers. By leaning into its heritage, Arctic Cat isn’t denying its evolution—it’s building the future on a solid foundation. Looking forward, yes—but never forgetting what made the brand’s loyal followers fall in love in the first place.
Names that are great to see—and even better to hear…
For 2027, we’re seeing the return of Jag, Bearcat, XF, and El Tigre. Admit it—those names hit a nerve and bring back memories that aren’t all that far away.
The trail lineup: ready to win over riders
On the trail side, Arctic Cat is striking a smart balance between continuity and revival. The cornerstone names ZR and Thundercat remain at the heart of the lineup—two badges that have long stood for performance, precision, and the brand’s sport DNA. For many riders, those names mean controlled power and confidence over long distances. Keeping them sends a clear message: Arctic Cat is protecting its pillars.
But the biggest headline is the long-anticipated return of the legendary Jag and El Tigre names. They defined a generation and recall a time when a sled’s personality was every bit as important as its hardware. Seeing them back in the lineup creates a direct bridge between past and present. It’s a strategic decision that taps into nostalgia for purists while giving today’s models a strong identity to carry forward.
Goodbye Blast; hello Jag
The original Arctic Cat Jag models were light, simple snowmobiles built to be accessible—everything from first-time riders to family trail users. They stood out with modest but dependable power, surprisingly smooth handling, and a reputation for being easy to live with. With a compact silhouette and a practical, no-nonsense vibe, they became honest winter companions for an entire generation.
That’s likely why Arctic Cat decided to bring back the Jag name in 2027 for its 7/8-size snowmobiles. It fits perfectly, doesn’t it? Power comes from a 397 cm3 single-cylinder engine. This modern, compact, lively two-stroke is designed to strike a strong balance between lightweight feel and fun. It delivers quick power in the low-to-mid range, giving these sleds a playful character and easy control—even for less experienced riders. Thanks to fuel injection and a simplified design, it remains economical, reliable, and surprisingly capable for its displacement.
The new Jag Sno Pro also uses the 397 cm3 engine. It stands out with a low windshield and two Arctic Cat colour packages. The white version, however, is available only via spring pre-order.
ZR models: built to take on the trail
For the 2026 model year, Arctic Cat stood out by becoming the first manufacturer to offer electronic power steering on a two-stroke snowmobile. That innovation remains exclusive to the brand today. Typically reserved for heavier machines or four-stroke platforms, this technology transforms the ride by reducing steering effort and improving precision in technical trail sections.
By pairing power steering with a lightweight, lively platform like the Catalyst, Arctic Cat created a combination nobody else has matched: the agility of a modern two-stroke, amplified by smart electronic assistance. It’s a bold move that shows not only a willingness to innovate, but a real understanding of what riders want—more control, less fatigue, and a sled that performs across a wide range of conditions.
In 2027, Arctic Cat expands its ZR lineup with 600 and 858 cc two-stroke engines, along with electronic power steering (EPS). Note that ZR, ZR EPS, and ZR Sno Pro models are offered with Ripsaw tracks (129 x 1.25 in) and Ripsaw II tracks (137 x 1.25 in). The ZR Sno Pro EPS is offered only with the Ripsaw II configuration.
Designed to eat up the bumps, the ZR X-RC returns nearly unchanged—except for EPS now being standard and the addition of the G8 display.
It’s also worth noting the ZR 7000 carries over its 1,049 cm3 Genesis engine, with the main changes for 2027 being updated colour options.
The return of the El Tigre
Model year 2027 marks the departure of the EXT Special 858, making room for the El Tigre. The return of this name signals an iconic model that blends a sporty look, agile suspension, and the quick, lively attitude Arctic Cat is known for. Built for riders who like a precise, dynamic feel, it stands out with a lightweight chassis and sharp steering response. With aggressive styling and a deep performance heritage, the El Tigre remains one of the most recognizable and celebrated models in Arctic Cat’s lineup.
For 2027, the El Tigre is available with 600 and 858 C-TEC2 engines. It comes standard with electronic power steering (EPS). With the 600, the package includes an Arrowhead track (137 x 1.3 in) and Slide Action rear suspension. If you choose the 858, you also get the option of an Arrowhead track (146 x 1.3 in) paired with the new Cross-Action rear suspension.
The new Arrowhead track arrives pre-studded, delivering noticeably improved traction on hardpack, groomed trails, and even ice. With steel studs tipped with carbide, it provides stronger braking and better control in tricky situations. Its optimized 15-degree attack angle boosts efficiency and drive, helping the sled bite into the surface while keeping the ride stable and predictable.
ZR White Tiger: the big 2026 highlight
Among the 2026 models, the ZR White Tiger stands out as the most dramatic transformation in the lineup. Essentially, it’s an El Tigre 858 offered exclusively through spring ordering—finished in a striking white livery and equipped with a low race-style windshield that sharpens its aggressive look.
Under that unique styling, the White Tiger carries over all the El Tigre’s premium features:
- Electronic power steering (EPS)
- Track options tailored to rider preference
- C&A Pro XPT skis for sharper precision
- Modern, intuitive G8 display
- Tunnel flares and ice scratchers for maximum efficiency
- ATAC suspension with electronic control for all four shocks
The result: a model that combines the El Tigre’s high-end tech with an exclusive visual identity built for riders who want to stand out on the trail.
Thundercat: the undisputed beast
You’ll be happy to hear the hyper-performance 9000 Thundercat 137 and 146 returns virtually unchanged. The only notable update is the addition of the G8 display. Arctic Cat’s G8 is a modern, clean dashboard built for clarity and readability—even in bright sun or harsh winter conditions. Its wide, high-contrast screen puts essential info front and centre—speed, RPM, ride mode, fuel, diagnostics—with an intuitive layout that lets riders keep their eyes on the trail. Tough, responsive, and easy to read at a glance, the G8 adds real sophistication while genuinely improving the riding experience through a simple, stable interface designed for action.
We also shouldn’t overlook the return of the ZR 120 and ZR 200, which will make a lot of young snowmobile fans very happy. Their presence in the 2027 lineup helps introduce a new generation of riders in a safer, more appropriate environment—while strengthening the family connection to the brand by letting kids experience Arctic Cat from their earliest laps.
Touring models still in the Arctic Cat lineup for 2027
Touring snowmobiles play an essential role because they make winter riding more accessible and more comfortable for a wider range of riders. They allow two people to share the experience on the same machine, which adds enjoyment, communication, and a more social feel to rides. With comfort-focused ergonomics, they open the door to longer trips without excessive fatigue. Finally, their greater load capacity and stability make them ideal partners for travel, exploration, and two-up adventures.
For 2027, there’s little change on this side of the lineup. The Pantera 400, 7000, and 9000 return. The Pantera 9000 does receive updates, including ARS II front suspension and the addition of the Arctic Cat G8 display.
Norseman is gone; Bearcat is back
For Arctic Cat fans, the Bearcat name instantly brings to mind toughness, reliability, and the ability to work hard in the harshest conditions. It’s a lineage tied to serious utility sleds—traction, load capacity, stability, and endurance—built for those who take on winter rather than simply getting through it. Bearcat represents a rugged, loyal machine ready for anything: a true work-and-adventure partner in wide-open snowy country.
By dropping the Norseman name and bringing Bearcat back, Arctic Cat is sending a clear message about its intent to re-enter the utility category with authority. For the 397 cm3 model, aside from the name, nothing changes for 2027.
However, on Bearcat models powered by the 600 or 858 C-TEC2 engines, three updates are worth highlighting. First, they receive AWS 39 front suspension with EPS. Second, they’re fitted with a new rear cargo rack. Finally, they feature a new ATACH Mounting System.
Riot is gone; XF is back
For Arctic Cat riders, the XF name immediately signals versatility and a true “crossover” mindset. It represents machines that can move effortlessly from groomed trails to deeper snow, thanks to a balance of stability, agility, and flotation. XF is a sled that isn’t limited to a single terrain—it follows its rider everywhere, with freedom and flexibility as part of its DNA.
Three XF models are offered for 2027: XF 400, XF, and XF Sno Pro. On the XF and XF Sno Pro, we see the introduction of the new Cross-Action rear suspension with an elevated rear wheel (Cross-Action Rear Suspension with Elevated Rear Wheel). This improved setup delivers noticeably better cornering agility while maintaining excellent flotation in deeper snow. With the rear wheel raised by one inch, the sled gains responsiveness and sharper direction changes. Despite the change, ground contact remains comparable to a 129-inch chassis, helping preserve stability and rider confidence. The result is a balanced, precise, high-performing ride across a wide range of conditions.
The “M” lineup is back—with even more for mountain riders
Overall, the mountain-focused “M” series returns for adrenaline seekers. So it won’t surprise you that the 7/8-size M 400 is back—an excellent entry-level option with a lower purchase cost. The M Sno Pro Alpha also returns largely unchanged.
But we do see a new M Sno Pro. This new sled is offered with 600 or 858 C-TEC2 power and features AWS 36 front suspension paired with AC5S shocks for added precision. A two-rail rear suspension helps deliver stability and comfort, backed by a full-length heat exchanger for efficient heat management. It offers electric or manual start (858 only), and PowerClaw tracks in 146 or 154 inches with 2.6-inch lugs for impressive bite. Braking comes from the Stealth 88 master cylinder with a lightweight disc and an aluminum driveshaft, while the G8 display is available as an option—all wrapped in a sleek black finish.
The HCR and HCX return essentially unchanged from 2026, aside from colour choices that look much more appealing in my opinion for 2027.
2027: a pivotal year for the Widescape WS 250
The year 2027 will mark a decisive step for the Widescape WS 250, newly brought into the Arctic Cat family. Following its acquisition, this period will primarily focus on clearly positioning the machine in the lineup, refining its identity, and preparing its evolution under Arctic Cat’s technological and strategic vision. It will be a year of observation, fine-tuning, and consolidation—where the main objective is to maximize the WS 250’s unique potential while aligning it with the brand’s performance and reliability standards. In short, 2027 will lay the groundwork that allows this innovative concept to fully take flight in the years ahead.
Ongoing improvements:
- The new intake box designed for the 600 and 858 C-TEC2 engines improves airflow and day-to-day serviceability. Thanks to an optimized design, it significantly reduces the risk of water ingestion—an important advantage for reliability in tough winter conditions. The update strengthens overall performance while giving riders added peace of mind.
- The new expansion chamber developed for the 600 C-TEC2 delivers better performance across a broader range of conditions, with sharper response and more consistent power. Its optimized design also helps improve emissions performance, making the engine cleaner and more efficient without sacrificing fun. The update strengthens the balance between performance, efficiency, and environmental standards.
- The 858 continues to benefit from an ongoing improvement program, including a new exhaust valve configuration that increases durability for both the valve and actuator arm. Updated engine calibration further refines response and overall efficiency for more consistent behaviour in varying conditions. Finally, the adoption of a lighter rear gear—shared with the 600—reduces rotating mass and contributes to a livelier, more responsive feel.
- The new oil tank designed for the 600 and 858 C-TEC2 uses an improved material with better impact resistance, increasing durability across the lubrication system. This reduces the risk of damage during aggressive riding or rough terrain, while delivering higher reliability in the harshest winter conditions. Arctic Cat is clearly reinforcing toughness and peace of mind for riders.
A step in the right direction
Arctic Cat’s 2027 updates mark a real turning point for the brand—combining technical innovation, mechanical refinement, and a clearer strategic vision. Every improvement—whether it’s optimized engines, strengthened components, or new performance solutions—signals a firm commitment to quality and continuous evolution. These bold choices won’t only benefit the sleds themselves; they’ll also strengthen Arctic Cat’s standing in the industry by reinforcing its reputation as a forward-thinking, determined manufacturer.
For riders, these advancements will build an even stronger sense of belonging, because they’ll see a brand that listens, improves, and invests in the future of their passion. All signs point to 2027 being a year where Arctic Cat pushes to new heights—while solidifying the unique bond it shares with its community.
