Imagine riding over 1,800 kilometers of perfectly prepared, safe, surfaced and marked trails run by 13 snowmobiling clubs, which also offer refuges, often with catering services.
One of the major advantages of the Bas-Saint-Laurent area is its proximity to major centers such as Quebec City, Sherbrooke and Drummondville. “Snowmobiler-friendly”, the region offers clear signing, spacious and pleasant trails, and well-identified easy-to-access services.
The Kamouraska Circuit
The 200 km Circuit du Kamouraska takes you along the river on the Sentier des Pèlerins, connecting Notre-Dame-du-Portage to Saint-André-de-Kamouraska. Discover trail #35, an old railroad line from the Beauce region that joins Trans-Québec trail #5.
Accommodation and Relaxation
At La Pocatière, you can stay and dine at Auberge Cap Martin or Motel Le Pocatois. The Motel des Mariniers in Kamouraska is also worth a visit. Hop lovers will enjoy Rivière-Ouelle’s Baleine Endiablée microbrewery and inn, with its accommodation and dining options that adapt to each season. You can also choose accommodations in Rivière-du-Loup.
The Témiscouata Circuit
The 270 km Circuit du Témiscouata takes you along the emblematic lakes of Pohénégamook and Témiscouata.
This journey will transport you into a world of winter wonderland. The more adventurous will choose trail #561 which passes across the Lake Pohénégamook, while a more leisurely experience is offered on nearby trail #35, which features numerous loops.
From Témiscouata-sur-le-Lac to Dégelis, you will be dazzled by the panoramic views along Lake Témiscouata. Trail #571 takes you through a multitude of maple groves, in the heart of snow-covered nature.
A Host of Quality Services
The Témiscouata circuit is packed with high-quality services. These include the Forteresse de la Rive inn, the microbrewery Le Secret des Dieux in Pohénégamook and the Motel Royal in Témiscouata-sur-le-Lac. The Mont Biencourt ski club, Camping et Chalets Squatec, Hôtel Le 1212 and the Pub Madawaska microbrewery in Dégelis are all excellent options.
Circuit des Monts Notre-Dame, between Sea and Mountains
The 391 kilometer Circuit des Monts Notre-Dame connects the Notre-Dame mountains to the shores of the St. Lawrence River. This route features dream destinations such as Rivière-du-Loup, which is considered the starting point for all snowmobiling adventures, Trois-Pistoles, Rimouski and Saint-Gabriel-de-Rimouski.
The lookouts at Saint-Fabien-sur-Mer and Parc de la Croix in Rivière-du-Loup are also well worth a visit. On trail #5, near Rimouski, you will be amazed by the bird’s-eye view of the city.
Exceptional Services
This circuit is endowed with havens of rest. In Rivière-du-Loup, Hôtel Universel, with its modern rooms, Boréal Univers Gourmand restaurant and Universpa urban spa, is an excellent option. Heated, locked garages and ample secure parking are also available.
