Testing the Ski-Doo Helium Enduro and X-Team Sets

This season, thanks to the collaboration of BRP, I had the opportunity to test new driving clothing, namely the Helium Enduro set with the pro version jacket and the X-Team set. Even if they are of the same brand, these sets have very different vocations and characteristics.

Helium Enduro Set

It’s the second year in a row that I have had the opportunity to test the Helium Enduro set with the pro jacket. What distinguishes the Pro version are the inscriptions of performance elements such as “Rotax.” The pants are identical to the 2018 version, so I used this one again for my test. This set stands out mostly for its incredible lightness and manufacturing quality. As soon as you wear it, you notice all the attention paid to the small details. It is also a set designed for active driving in hybrid mode where the driver uses a lot of energy. It is, therefore, not a jacket that is designed for very cold days since the whole thing is half-insulated. In mild weather, it is not necessary to wear a lot of underwear, but when the temperature drops, you need to add layers to be comfortable on the trail. For the upper body, the addition of Ski-Doo’s compressible jacket, in combination with an Enduro Pro, allows the jacket to be used in much colder temperatures. New for 2019, this jacket has on the right-side inner wiring for the Oxygen helmet.

X-Team Set

The second set I had the chance to try last season was the X-Team. I have been using these sets for several years now, and they are known for their versatility, regardless of trail conditions. Beautiful in appearance, they take up several elements of the performance. Thanks to the Primaloft Black insulation, this set can be used at significantly colder temperatures than Helium Enduro, without having to wear several layers of underwear. They are highly resistant to weather, including wind and water, and are breathable. When the temperature rises, there are openings under the arms to regulate the temperature. I also had the opportunity to use the compressible jacket with the X-Team and this allowed me to go out on a snowmobile despite the freezing temperatures. In fact, I recommend adding the compressible jacket to your shopping list for this season because, in my opinion, it is an essential element in my snowmobile equipment. The X-Team set has been the industry standard for many years for its versatility and performance. Since 2019, the X-Team jacket also has the inner wiring for the Oxygen helmet.

For my part, I obviously recommend these two sets because they are of high quality and will greatly improve your driving experience. If your driving style is very active and you are often in off-trail mode, the Helium Enduro set is for you. The addition of the compressible jacket makes it possible to circulate with this set at much colder temperatures. If you are strictly trail riding and want only one set to allow you to travel in almost any condition, the X-Team is for you. The best thing to do is to visit your BRP Ski-Doo dealer to see these sets, compare the features and see which one is best for you. You can also visit www.ski-doo.com.

In closing, I would like to thank BRP for providing the Enduro pro jacket and X-Team pants for the 2018-2019 Sledmagazine.com trials.
