If there’s one manufacturer that dares to do things differently, it’s Lynx. Built in Finland, their snowmobiles stand for performance, precision, and muscle, and that slightly rebellious, exotic edge that really speaks to me. I had the opportunity to ride the 2027 lineup at the latest SnowShoot. In the end, I experienced two major thrills… and one disappointment. Let me break it down like we’re leaning against a trailer at the end of a long ride.
First, I’ll talk about the 2027 Rave RE, a high-performance snowmobile powered by the 600RR E-TEC engine. Then, I’ll move on to the 2027 Xterrain and its 850 E-TEC Turbo R engine for trail riding. Finally, we’ll wrap up with Lynx’s 2027 utility snowmobiles. Let’s get into it.
Rave RE 600RR E-TEC: The Sharpest Lynx Snowmobile of 2027

Lynx Rave RE 2027 — 600RR E-TEC.
Did I mention how much I love the 600RR E-TEC engine?
(Laughs.)
If I did, I’ll gladly say it again. I absolutely love this Rotax engine. But in the 2027 Rave RE, it’s something else entirely. Pronounced “RRRRRRAVE R-E” (roll that “R,” it’s part of the experience), it’s no longer just a favourite… it’s a full-blown obsession.
The combination of engine, chassis, styling, and especially the suspension make it a serious weapon. Since the arrival of the LFS-R front suspension last year, this rough-trail beast has transformed. More agile. More incisive. The steering is ultra-precise. Thanks to its predictable behaviour, I felt fully in control—even when the trail looked like a minefield.
I’m still searching for the right word to describe its bite… Sharp? Surgical? Aggressive?
Even in the worst conditions, the 2027 Rave RE stays planted. It attacks. And it builds confidence.
As for sound, the slight intake and exhaust revisions are subtle but noticeable. It breathes better—and it has a sharper tone. Without diving too deep into the technical side, this type of update is fairly common across BRP models equipped with the Rotax 600RR E-TEC engine.
And the ergonomics? Completely natural. I felt at home within the first few metres.
Honestly, I’d have no problem pulling out my own wallet to buy one. Especially with the announced price drop of about $1,000. I have a feeling we’ll be seeing a lot more of these on the trails next winter.

Xterrain 850 E-TEC Turbo R 2027: Controlled Power on the Trail

Lynx Xterrain 2027 850 E-TEC Turbo R.
Now let’s talk about my trail favourite: the 2027 Xterrain powered by the 850 E-TEC Turbo R engine. I know, I know… you’ll say the 900 ACE Turbo R version is perfectly suited to our conditions, comfortable, and probably stronger on resale value.
In my view, pairing the ROTAX 850 E-TEC Turbo R engine with the LFS-R front suspension completely changed this trail machine’s behaviour and ride quality. Once again, I appreciated the 10.25-inch display and its features. My test ride took place on a section of trail that was anything but flat, at an elevation of roughly 7,500 feet (≈ 2,200 m). Even at that altitude, the turbo was still pulling hard. No need to say I had a grin on my face the entire session.
The character, the throttle response, the sense of control, the ride quality—that’s the Lynx experience.
I’ll add the manufacturer’s link… just in case. Click here to access it.
Commander RE and Brutal RE: Lynx 2027 Utility Snowmobiles
On the utility side, I spotted two models clearly aimed at that segment: the 2027 Commander RE and the 2027 Brutal RE. We were surprised to see them there, as neither appeared on our official test list.
Frustrating? A little. Because I know the DNA of Lynx snowmobiles. They’re built tough and known for handling real terrain abuse. I would have loved to test them and tell you exactly how they perform.
Unfortunately, that will have to wait.
Verdict: Which Lynx 2027 Snowmobiles Truly Stand Out?
If I had to sum up the 2027 Lynx lineup in one word, it would be “character”. First, I absolutely loved the 2027 Rave RE with the 600RR E-TEC engine. It can tackle the roughest trails without compromise. Then there’s the 2027 Xterrain with its 850 E-TEC Turbo R engine—a powerful snowmobile built to devour trails with intensity. Finally, I’ve developed a real curiosity about Lynx’s utility lineup. The Commander RE and Brutal RE are now firmly on my list of machines to test as soon as possible.
