Méga Drag St-Antonin 2026: THE Snowmobile Drag Event in Bas-Saint-Laurent

A Growing Passion for Snowmobile Drag Racing

For the past few years, a true passion for snowmobile drag racing has taken hold. Each winter, new circuits and spectacular events attract riders and enthusiasts from all over Québec. With that in mind, I had to stop by the Méga Drag St-Antonin, near Rivière-du-Loup. An event known for its quality organization and unique atmosphere.

Meeting the Organizers of the 2026 Méga Drag St-Antonin

Last season, I had the chance to attend the 2025 edition. On site, I shook hands with Sébastien Lahey, one of the event organizers, who works alongside Charles Coté. This passionate duo is behind the success of Méga Drag. Sébastien also confirmed that the 2026 edition will be held on February 14, once again in St-Antonin. He shared with me all the details of the upcoming edition, which promises to be even more impressive.

A Precisely Prepared Snowmobile Drag Track

The drag strip at the Méga Drag St-Antonin measures 660 ft long and includes four starting lanes. Two of them will be prepared with hardened snow, specifically for the Pro 55 and Outlaw classes. Four will be on stone dust, offering a unique contrast between power and traction. Riders will have access to 1,500 ft of “showdown”, the deceleration zone after the finish line.

This long distance allows safe braking for machines that sometimes exceed 145 mph to 150 mph over 500 ft. Track quality is a hallmark of the Méga Drag St-Antonin. It is maintained all winter long to ensure a consistent and fast surface. This attention to detail attracts high-level racers every year.

A Solid Organization for a Large-Scale Snowmobile Event

According to Sébastien Lahey, about 300 registrations are expected for the 2026 edition. The pre-tech inspections will take place Friday afternoon, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. An overnight guard will be on site, allowing participants to leave their trailers safely. The site will open Saturday at 6 a.m. with a second pre-tech session from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. Racing will begin promptly at 11 a.m., under the supervision of the SRF Québec circuit. The circuit applies international ISR rules, ensuring strict and fair compliance.

The top three in each category must undergo a full technical inspection after their race. Engine modifications, weight, and mechanical components will be thoroughly verified.

Over 20 Snowmobile Racing Classes for All Levels

The Méga Drag St-Antonin will offer more than 20 different classes. These range from young riders on 120 cc snowmobiles to Outlaw machines producing over 600 hp.

Some reach speeds of 145 mph to 150 mph over 500 ft, an absolutely breathtaking sight. This variety allows participation from amateurs and professionals alike. This mix of experience and passion is what gives the event its unique character.

A Complete Logistics Plan for the 2026 Méga Drag St-Antonin

The event relies on a team of 35 to 40 volunteers. They are joined by paramedics, firefighters, and security personnel, always present to ensure a safe and smooth event. Everything is planned so competitors and visitors enjoy a seamless experience. Each section of the site has a specific purpose and clearly defined access.

Spectator Area: Immersion at the Heart of Snowmobile Drag Racing

Spectators can enjoy a large area set up directly along the track. A heated tent, a bar, a restaurant, a giant fire pit, and even a sugar shack are available. Exhibitors will also be on site to showcase their products and new releases. The atmosphere is warm and lively, animated by a DJ and a dynamic announcer throughout the day.

Paddock Area of the Méga Drag St-Antonin: Action and Preparation

The paddock area is reserved exclusively for riders and their machines. It is forbidden to leave before passing the technical inspection. Teams set up their trailers, tents, and workspaces to prepare for their runs. It is a fascinating place where focus, the smell of fuel, and pure passion meet.

Race Management and Supervision Centre

The race management centre handles the order of departures and displays the rankings. Everything is centralized and visible to the teams.

The supervision area houses the weigh-in and mechanical inspections, ensuring complete transparency.

Announcements run continuously, allowing riders to easily follow the progress of the event.

How race day unfolds at the Méga Drag St-Antonin

The day begins early, at 6 a.m., and extends into late afternoon. The schedule is busy but perfectly orchestrated. The organizers have planned everything to minimize downtime and keep the action flowing. Races run quickly one after another, creating a constant show for the audience. Each round brings its share of intense duels and adrenaline.

The cash prizes and custom trophies will be awarded at the end of the day. The ceremony will take place inside the large, heated tent, in the presence of participants and spectators.

Field Impressions: Immersion in the Snowmobile Event

During my first visit, I was impressed by the size and efficiency of the site. The organizers gave me carte blanche to move around and capture exclusive images. I was able to explore every area, from the paddock to the track, and see the team’s precision firsthand. A heated space was even available to protect my equipment and warm up between rounds.

What stands out the most is the professionalism and passion of the volunteers. Despite the cold, everyone remains cheerful and contributes to the event’s success. This atmosphere is what makes the Méga Drag so unique and so human.

My highlights from the Méga Drag St-Antonin

  • Professional and seamless organization, worthy of major racing events.
  • Spectators close to the action, with minimal barriers.
  • Dynamic DJ and announcer all day long.
  • Results board updated after every round.
  • Friendly, motivated, and always smiling volunteers.
  • Fast, varied food options with an area to eat on site.
  • Family-friendly, festive, and safe atmosphere.
  • Ongoing innovation: hardened-snow starts in 2026 for Pro 55 and Outlaw classes.

Areas for improvement for the 2026 edition

Based on my experience, a few small adjustments could make the event even better. First, stronger lighting in the evening would be a welcome addition for certain areas. Next, I noticed slight photocell issues, which were quickly fixed. These are minor details that don’t detract from the overall quality of the event, but resolving them could enhance the participant’s experience.

Why is the Méga Drag St-Antonin worth the trip?

I travelled from Québec City, about 230 km away. Every kilometre was worth it to witness this unique show. I felt the passion, camaraderie, and professionalism from the moment I arrived. The Méga Drag St-Antonin is much more than a race: it is a major winter celebration of motorsports.

The team works hard, even in heavy snow, to offer the best track possible. The night before the 2025 event, they cleared the track all evening after a storm. A true testament to their dedication!
