2023 Polaris: what’s new!

Polaris is unveiling major changes to its fleet of snowmobiles for 2023.

Consumers will have plenty of choices to customize their ride during the limited spring order period! For example, the 7S screen, which has set the standard for touch screens in the industry, will be available (as an option) on most pre-ordered machines. In addition, Polaris will offer this standard screen from the top of its product line on select models.

To begin with, one of the big news for the 2023 Indy XC class is that it will now be possible to get a standard Trail Indy AdventureX2 dual passenger version in Matryx! The X2 model will be available with dual carbide rails and standard dual seat! The single/double passenger Adventures will be equipped with the 7S screen, the rugged Sentry bumper, integrated mirrors and a hard tunnel luggage! Three engine options will be offered: for the Indy Adventure: 650 Patriot, 850 Patriot and ProStar S4. The Indy Adventure X2 will be powered by the 650 Patriot and ProStar S4 (4 strokes).

Entry-level buyers will also be pleased to learn that the Indy SP 137 and Switchback SP 146 models will be migrated to the Matryx platforms and will have the 650 Patriot as their powerplant, leaving the Axys chassis and 600 Cleanfire engine behind for good!

The arrival of a 4-stroke 1000cc naturally-aspirated engine is the talk of the town. Those in the know were wondering how Polaris could integrate a 4-stroke engine to the very famous and narrow Matryx chassis. Named ProStar S4, the twin-cylinder engine will be available in the following three segments: Trail/Recreation/Widetrack Titan. The good news about this mill is that it is indeed a reconfigured engine to fit into the existing slim Matryx chassis without redesigning and reworking the external dimensions! This is a tour de force for Polaris! The P22 transmission that we saw in the 2022 BOOST was retained as the drive pulley for the ProStar S4 engines! In addition, new Polaris TS shocks will be installed on these 4-stroke machines to compensate for the extra weight of this heavier engine.

Indy VR1/Assault Switchback Boost

High-performance trail riders will not be disappointed as the famous 850 Patriot Boost will be available in this segment! You read that right, it will now be possible to pre-order Snowcheck, a turbocharged 2-stroke engine for the Indy VR1 129/137 and Hybrid Switchback Assault 146 models! The P22 transmission will also be included in these packages! The 650 as well as the 850 Patriot will still be available in these models.

Back for 2023, the XCR series dedicated to bumpy trail enthusiasts returns with the same configurations as in 2022! The 128″ and 136″ track lengths with four different lug heights are back.

Patriot 9R

To further its reputation as the leader in mountain snowmobiles, Polaris is introducing its all-new 850 Patriot engine revitalized to a power of « 900 cc ». This one will carry the name of Patriot 9 R. Available in 2023 exclusively in the series Mountain PRO RMK SLASH and RMK KHAOS SLASH (Slash = Short Tunnel) , This engine wants to be modified directly from Polaris factory. In the jargon, it is the « BIG BORE » of the 850 Patriot!  The track lengths offered remain unchanged:155/163/165 in PRO RMK SLASH and : 146/155/163/165 in RMK KHAOS SLASH ! The RMK KHAOS 850 as well as PRO RMK 650/850 models will be offered in the 155-inch with traditional tunnel. Polaris abandons the versions based on the Axys chassis! The option of the 7S screen will be offered on almost all of this flagship! (Exception SKS 146 and Rmk Evo )

For those interested, Snowcheck warranties are three years on almost all engines. (Patriot 9R, Patriot Boost 2 years)

The goal of this new avenue is to provide a middle ground between the 850 Patriot and the Patriot Boost Engine (turbo)!  With the arrival of the Boost series in the 2023 trail models, it’s a safe bet and wishful thinking that the Patriot 9 R generation engine series will find its way into the Indy and Assault versions for 2024.

After a year’s absence, the SKS model is back to satisfy all-mountain enthusiasts. The model comes only in Matryx 650/146 inches version with 15/146/2.0 CROSSOVER track. That being said, we consider it a 70% off-trail/30% trail model.

As for the accessories that caught our attention, it will now be possible to integrate the new auxiliary headlights arranged on the Matryx chassis. In addition, an adjustable windshield will be available.

An important point to remember is that the Snowcheck period has been revised for future orders. To ensure there are no delays, interested parties will have from February 28 to March 24, 2022 to reserve the frame of their choice! Happy shopping!
