ToggleWe are fortunate enough to have four distinct seasons in Quebec. Nevertheless, we can observe that our winters are not what they used to be. Our childhood memories differ somewhat from what we experience today. However, the snowy cover finally made its appearance this year, finally starting my season at the helm of the Ski-Doo 2024 Renegade Adrenaline with Enduro 850 E-TEC package.
This snowmobile, which I have the privilege to pilot, in partnership with Groupe Contant, is a vehicle perfectly suited for covering hundreds of kilometres daily. The “Enduro” designation speaks to its well-known character among enthusiasts.
Comprehensive Equipment!
Easily Adjustable Suspension
When we delve into the extensive list of features of the 2024 Renegade Adrenaline, it speaks volumes about its attributes. Its array undoubtedly earns it the title of a touring snowmobile.
Firstly, let’s highlight its rear rMotion X suspension with ACS (Air Control Suspension) shock absorber. This feature allows me, with a simple selection on the touchscreen, to choose from five different adjustments. Personally, I don’t prefer a suspension that’s too soft or too hard. Consequently, I started with the third position for an ideal compromise. So far, I don’t regret my choice as it suits my moderate driving style.
Additionally, the rMotion X suspension has a weight transfer adjustment that allows for better customization according to my preference. In the high position, it reduces weight transfer to reduce ski lift. In the low position, the front becomes much lighter, enhancing the driving pleasure. On this aspect, I sway between positions 2 and 3. When I prefer a smoother ride, like on a Sunday afternoon outing, for example, I choose setting 2. Conversely, when I feel the desire to attack curves with more confidence and precision, level 3 greatly satisfies me.
Overall, I am satisfied with the suspension system offered. That said, I would have preferred more sophisticated front shocks to complement the RAS X suspension. The KYB 36 shocks are adjustable in compression using a key. However, I would have appreciated a higher-end set like the KYB Pro 36 found on the Renegade X. These allow for compression speed adjustment with a simple button.
The 10.25-inch Touchscreen.
I’m always amazed at the efforts manufacturers put into designing increasingly user-friendly vehicles. The new 10.25-inch colour touchscreen, with BRP Connect technology, is a prime example. It’s simply fantastic in every way, although it does require a period of adaptation and understanding.
I had to take the time in my garage, safe from the elements and at a comfortable temperature, to fully grasp all aspects of this screen. I read the owner’s manual, did some internet research, and watched several tutorials on YouTube. All these exercises helped me understand its complex operation at first glance.
To be honest, I found the touchscreen very user-friendly after digesting and analyzing its operation thoroughly. Among other things, it allows leaving our smartphone in the heated glove box pocket. We can also take advantage of many of its benefits by using the BRP screen functions.
I briefly used the BRP GO! app for navigation. However, I hadn’t saved my route beforehand during the initial use. As a result, I wasn’t able to benefit from the accuracy and points of interest when I lost my network connection. We learn from our mistakes! Nevertheless, I greatly appreciate the distance indicators of nearby intersections in my direction.
Equipped for Comfort!
Customized by Groupe Contant
My Ski-Doo 2024 Renegade Adrenaline with Enduro 850 E-TEC package has undergone an addition that doesn’t go unnoticed. Groupe Contant installed a LinQ trail passenger seat for added convenience.
According to my passenger’s confession, it fits perfectly. Contrary to popular belief, this type of seat is as comfortable, if not more, than a full original seat. It also allows us the leisure of removing it at our discretion to revert to a solo touring snowmobile. What more could one ask for?
A Heated Seat
Even though I could consider the option of having a heated seat on a snowmobile as superfluous, I must admit that I thoroughly enjoy its presence. Well, there you have it, my confession is now out!
The REV Gen5 Chassis
The Enduro package is now available with the new generation REV chassis. Therefore, I fully enjoy the latest innovations from Ski-Doo. The front of the hood is sharper than the previous version, and I feel as if I’m speeding through the wind. The deflection is practically perfect, and I don’t feel any air coming back. I must also mention that the medium windshield with side air deflectors greatly helps protect me from the cold.
The Engine… WOW!
The 2024 Renegade Adrenaline with the Enduro package is the only snowmobile in the Renegade lineup equipped with the two-stroke 850 E-TEC engine. This engine is very responsive when I press down hard on the throttle. When I say “responsive,” I’m being polite in my assertion. In action, it’s a surge of 165 HP that’s keenly felt.
It’s exhilarating! And to be honest, this engine is designed for experienced snowmobilers. I wouldn’t dare entrust the reins of this snowmobile to a novice because it has everything it takes to intimidate anyone.
Closing Words
In conclusion, this is just a brief taste of my impressions on the 2024 Renegade Adrenaline. Is this snowmobile perfect? My answer is … no! I’m sure that surprises you, doesn’t it? I’ve identified a few minor points that could be addressed in the future. If you want to know more, you’ll have no choice but to eagerly await my end-of-season review!
