Here are my impressions of my experience with the ZR 9000 RR 137 2019.
I had the opportunity to try the ZR 9000 Limited IAct 137 2019 (Read…). Both snowmobiles are almost identical regarding the engine and the suspension geometry. I’m going to focus on the difference in the handling and suspension rather than the technical aspects.
What I liked when I took possession of the snowmobile was its aggressive look with its short windshield and its typical Arctic Cat colors, green and black. Handguards are standard. However, the sunglass holder is optional. Other options available on the snowmobile are the large-capacity seat bag as well as one on the handlebars.
I know exactly what to expect in terms of power from the Ctec4, but I immediately notice a big difference in the setting of the TEAM Rapid Response BOSS primary clutch. The start is much more aggressive and straightforward, ideal for a sportier ride.
The Arctic Race front suspension is equipped with FOX 1.5 ZERO QS3R KASHIMA shock absorbers with 3 settings. It is combined with Pro Cross-6 skis; the performance is flawless. I put it to the test on trails with good bumps and tight turns. I can assure you that at no time I felt that I was hard on the suspension. I reached my limits before the limitations of the snowmobile.
Same thing with the Slide-Action rear suspension. It is equipped with the FOX 1.5 ZERO QS3 KASHIMA central shock absorber and the FOX 2.0 ZERO QS3R KASHIMA rear shock, all combined with the 137-inch (348 cm) RIPSAW II track with 1.25-inch (3,175 cm) studs. The performance is outstanding. On several occasions, I’ve told myself, hold on tight… And to my surprise, it absorbs bumps. The most important thing is that you don’t get thrown off during repetitive bumps, which allows you to stay in control and hang on well during acceleration when exiting a curve.
Perfection is not of this world, and there are points to improve, according to me. For example, the configuration of the front air intake for the turbo. The accumulation of snow and ice that forms there is a problem that the manufacturer needs to fix. If you store your snowmobile in a warm place after a ride, the ice has time to melt. But if it stays in the cold, I can’t imagine how much ice might accumulate after several rides. In the long-term, this can’t be very good for the mechanical components.
The key position is not very well located and difficult to access with gloves. A switch on the handle would be much better, especially since there’s already a switch for reverse. A really simple improvement that would be appreciated by all, I’m sure. Add better lighting of the controls and an external extension system to adjust the rear suspension shocks, so that you don’t have to lie on the ground to change settings. We would have a snowmobile that is close to perfection.
In conclusion, the ZR 9000 RR 137 2019 is a snowmobile that offers a combination of remarkable handling and performance. In my opinion, it is among the best trail snowmobiles on the market if you’re looking for an almost flawless combination of performance, handling and trail comfort.
I would like to thank the Motoplex Group for their support and especially without whom this test would not have been possible.
