ToggleRenegade Enduro 900 ACE 2018 – Mid-season report
Renegade Enduro 900 ACE 2018
After several kilometers driving the Renegade Enduro 900 ACE 2018, from the BRP dealer Les Motoneiges Géro de Saint-Jean-de-Matha, I can now tell you more about this snowmobile.
Since my article on my first impressions, the additional mileage has only confirmed my observations.
The smooth ride of this snowmobile, its maneuverability, and its silent engine make us fall in love with it.
The ITC system
The electronic wireless accelerator called ITC (Intelligent Throttle Control) is remarkably soft for the thumb. In addition, it can be rotated to drive with your fingers instead of your thumb, you don't get tired of holding the accelerator. It can also be rotated to drive with your fingers instead of your thumb.
With the ITC system, you no longer feel the compression effect of releasing the throttle.
ITC System
The ITC system uses three levels of performance: sport, standard and eco.
In sport mode, the response is faster, the revivals are done without hesitation and the snowmobile is quite nervous.
In standard mode, accelerations are more linear. You need to press the throttle further to get accelerations that are closer to sport mode.
In eco mode, the accelerations are slightly lower than the standard mode and the maximum speed is around 70 km/hour. This mode is used to reduce fuel consumption.
Transmission, silencer, and traction
The transmission is an IDrive 2 and it works very well.
You can hardly hear the engine, which shows the excellent work of the silencer. It offers a beautiful sound that is not annoying and even at a certain speed you can hear the wind more than the sound of the engine.
The snowmobile comes with an Ice Ripper track of 137 X 15 X1.25.
My test shows good traction and braking on the trail and, with the current winter, the spikes have been very useful. No ice bothered me.
My off trails rides went well.
Remember that this is a trail snowmobile that allows us to go off trail or in deep snow.
For those who go out in deep snow or off trail, there are other more aggressive tracks like the Ice Cobra 1.6.

Comfort and suspension
The rear suspension is a rMotion with air-controlled shock. It is very comfortable and sporty.
On the seat, you are seated in a slightly raised position. This allows us to get up more quickly when the situation demands it.
My preload adjustment of the spring and the air-controlled varied between 1 and 2 depending on the weight in my suitcases.
That was enough for me to ride comfortably.

Seated position
The front suspension is a RAS 2 with HPG Plus shock absorbers.
With this suspension, the snowmobile was easy to control in all kinds of trails. The bumpy paths are easier to deal with.
It's very easy to calibrate it, you just turn the ring on the shock absorber with your hands and you don't need any tools.
The Pilot TS skis are efficient and easy to adjust depending on trails conditions.
I've been riding with this type of skis for 3 years and I don't want to ride without it.
When everything fits right, the skis seem to stick to the trail.
On a hardened trail, it is possible to slide a bit if you don't adjust your TS skis close to the minimum.
Trails can sometimes cross part with no snow, I really appreciate being able to lift the rails to avoid touching the bottom.

The driver's bench is heated which is very useful for the winter we have nowadays. The heat is well transmitted to the body.
XS chassis
The deflectors and the high windshield do their job very well. The windshield does not interfere with vision in any way.
In cold weather, you appreciate this windshield, but you feel that the upper arms and shoulders are less protected.

Switches, mirrors
The switches are positioned close to the handlebar on the left side and are backlit, you don’t have to look for them and you can stay focused on the trail.
Switches for thumb and heated handle, air suspension and multifunction gauge
It is easy to adjust the angle of the front headlight. Simply open the trunk above the multifunction gauge to find the adjustment remote directly in front of you.
For the lights, I have seen better on the market. I recommend adding different bulbs or adding the LED lighting system that BRP offers.
Front headlight adjustment
The adjustable rear-view mirrors provide excellent visibility on both sides of the snowmobile and I didn't notice any vibration.
The LinQ system is a wonder, our luggage is securely attached to the snowmobile and easy to use.
The multifunction gauge is very easy to read. Information is quickly and easily visible.

Conclusion
It's a very pleasant snowmobile to ride and it is quite nervous, which should satisfy most snowmobilers.
It is economical and gives us great autonomy. Depending on driving conditions and speed, we have estimated that we drove 300 to 380 km with a full tank of fuel.
At the end of winter, I will come back to you with a final report.
I would like to thank BRP dealer Les Motoneiges Géro de Saint-Jean-de-Matha for allowing me to test the Renegade Enduro 900 ACE 2018 for this long-term test.
