ToggleThe most important factor in having an enjoyable and optimal snowmobile ride is comfort. The most impactful element is without a doubt the temperature, and more specifically, the cold. It can have a negative impact on your ride and make you not want to go back. Fortunately, clothing companies strive to find the best components and manufacture the most efficient items to make our rides enjoyable.
This year, I had the chance to try two extremely important items for a successful snowmobile ride: the CKX Muk Lite evolution boots and the CKX Elevation gloves.
Elevation gloves
First of all, I have to say that this model of gloves is normally prized by off-trail snowmobilers. In my case, I only tried them on the trails. At first touch, I immediately loved the texture. A tough nylon fabric on the back of the hand and leather on the palm and fingers provide good protection against wind and increased grip for the handles.
For more sporty riding, when the hands are under a lot of pressure, the suede reinforcement in the palm helps to absorb the pressure and increases comfort.
The Velcro on the wrist is a good size and stays firmly in place. This seals the air intake at this level. Once detached, the opening is well enlarged to facilitate the insertion of the hand.
As they are mostly used off-trail, I recommend to use handlebar sleeves to keep your hands warm when riding in low temperatures. But you have to admit that with the beautiful CKX logo on top, they look really good!
Muk Lite evolution boots
As for the CKX Muk Lite evolution boots, once again I really enjoyed my rides with them. You literally get into big slippers when you put them on. They are so light that you would think you have nothing in your feet.
They contain a removable foam liner with 400g of Primaloft which provides excellent insulation when we adopt a more static trail ride. Even in very cold weather, I always felt comfortable on my feet.
In addition to having a good lugged sole to adhere well to the snowmobile, they have two laces, one at the foot level and the other at the opening of the boot. You can then tighten the whole thing to keep the foot firmly in place.
CKX has been offering high quality products for many years and this is once again demonstrated with the Muk Lite evolution boots and the CKX Elevation gloves. I would like to thank Kimpex and motoneige.ca for this test.
