In order to achieve their dream of a new efficient platform on their 2017 models, BRP engineers had also to develop a new engine that would fit into the space designed for it. The new 850 E-TEC was born.
This new 2-stroke engine is part of the narrow powerpack centred side-to-side in the chassis. It is said to be the most powerful of its category with 165 HP, which is 10 more than the famous 800R E-TEC. Its responsiveness makes the snowmobile equipped with it more pleasant and funny to pilot. As soon as you press the throttle, you feel the power, but you never lose control when you pilot your machine.
This engine is perfect if you want to have pure fun, to plant the skis in deep snow or to lift them and balance your snowmobile. Many models of the 2017 BRP lineup are equipped with it. As we had the chance to test it, we have been able to really understand it and most of all, to realize that BRP had reached a new level. Engineers had the great idea to look at all the best BRP diesel and 4-stroke engines in order to help them set these new performance standards. This is a reliable and efficient engine. No doubt a new era has begun for BRP.
