ToggleThe journey continues in Abitibi-Témiscamingue
In my previous article (read…), we were on our way to La Bannik with a breathtaking view of the magnificent Lake Temiscamingue.
Chalet typical of the area
We take our snowmobile to our chalet, it is beautiful. The interior is warm and has a fireplace in the living room. We have a lot of space. On the edge of the chalet, there is a spa facing the lake. Nothing is better than enjoying a moment of relaxation before dinner!
Meeting with the owner
At lunchtime, we met the owner of the place, Luc Pellerin. He is a snowmobile enthusiast, he changed the place so it can be snowmobilers friendly. Since 2000, he has been offering affordable packages in luxury chalets. The cuisine offered really good. Luc told me that he was inspired by the name "banik", a bread that is typical of the First Nations.
You can leave your trailers on the site for a few days. You can also make small repairs and keep your snowmobile warm.
The area has been specially designed to make snowmobilers feel at home and to benefit from top quality service. The trip is really worth it.

A day under the sun
Our short stay is over, we return to the trails after a great stay. The temperature is -15°C and the sun is shinning. I leave with a magnificent landscape printed in my mind.
Rouyn-Noranda
While returning to Abitibi, we crossed several villages with names I did not know of like Fugèreville, Guigue, Rémigny, Cloutier, Rollet, which made our trip interesting.
We are lucky enough to cross the Lake Temiscaming. We can see, several fishermen's huts and the wildlife around the lake, it makes our crossing pleasant and entertaining.
We traveled through farmland. The volunteers who maintain the trails deserve to be felicitated. The quality of the trails and the exemplary signage ensure safe driving.
Various landscapes
During our trip, the landscape changed as we arrive in Abitibi. We move from deciduous forest to spruce and despite the changes, the landscape is just beautiful. We were well guided by the many directions and we arrived quickly at our Quality Inn in Rouyn-Noranda.
On site, we can park and lock our vehicles with chains in a covered parking lot. There is a gas station near the hotel. The welcome is warm and we have a lot of information. The rooms are spacious and the meal pleasant. Well-deserved sleep!
Back to our starting point
Unfortunately, every good thing has an end! It is time to go back to Val-d' Or, but we decided to go through La Sarre, Amos, Vassan. It is a course of about 260 km.
Leaving Rouyn-Noranda, the trip went well and everything is well indicated. The route to La Sarre offers a beautiful landscape along several lakes and rivers. A snowmobile club overlooks a huge lake of the same name.
The following trails were wide, well maintained, but have lots of bumps. You have to reduce the speed to avoid being thrown out of your snowmobile. Arriving in La Sarre, we eat a good meal at the Motel Villa Mon Repos.
Trail to Amos
The return to Val D' Or goes so fast that you must be careful not to exceed the limit. The trail is a straight line, as far as the eye can see, soft as a carpet and the curves do not exist. We arrived at Val D' or on time!
Snowmobile Club
An important and typical feature of this region is that there are several snowmobile relays along the trails. Snowmobilers can warm up and take a little rest and continue their ride.
Recommendations for snowmobilers
For those who never had the chance to do snowmobile in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, you will be delighted! People will welcome you with open arms and you will ride along well-kept trails. Don't wait, it's time to plan your next trip with your friends! The trip is worth it. Enjoy your ride!
My snowmobile guide
I had to talk about the application that Tourisme Abitibi-Témiscamingue developed to allow snowmobilers to visit the region and to have a mobile application with all the access to the trail network, the various points of service and the location of the snowmobiler in time.
