We consulted Mr Michel Paradis, Sales Manager at SM Sports in Québec City, Yamaha dealer since over 40 years.
Which would be the best used 2012, 2013 and 2014 Yamaha models in each of the following categories : Trail / Touring, Crossover, Mountain and Utility?
In the Trail / Touring category, we chose two snowmobiles. Our first choice is the Vector model with the 345 cm (136") track, the Electric Power Steering (EPS) that reduces steering effort and the proven Genesis 120FI engine.
Snowmobile Yamaha RS Vector L-TX
Secondly, due to the outstanding performances of its 162 HP, we chose the Apex model and more precisely the Apex X-TX equipped with the tipped up rails track of 365 cm (144") for easier cornering. The Electric Power Steering reduces steering effort.
Snowmobile Yamaha Apex X-TX
In the Crossover category, we suggest the Nytro X-TX with the 3-cylinder Genesis engine, the tipped up rails track of 365 cm (144") with lug of 3,5 or 4,5 cm (1,25 or 1,75").
Snowmobile Yamaha FX Nytro X-TX
In the Mountain category, we chose another Nytro, the M-TX model with a track of 388 or 411 cm (153 or 162").

Finally, in the Utility category, our choice is the robust Viking Professional built on a chassis made of steel that provides great strength, equipped with a 4-stroke engine of 120 HP, a dual range transmission (hi/low) and with a track of 396 X 51 X 3,5 cm (156 X 20 X 1,375"). This model also features a thermostatic radiator that prevents the engine from overheating during prolonged idlings.

Check : the Yamaha snowmobiles are renowned for their reliability, so high mileage is not an issue, as long as the vehicle received a regular maintenance. Give special attention to the bushings, the suspension components and the general condition of the track.
