This winter, I had the chance to try the 509 Allied mono suit. I was thrilled when I knew I was going to try 509 clothes; it was a first for me.
Since it’s a unisex outfit, another contributor had the chance to try it on. I suggest you read his article HERE.
When I received my outfit, I couldn’t help to try it on! The colors are beautiful, and the fit with the helmet is simply perfect. However, I found the suit a little heavier than the other clothes I have tried on.
During my test, I noticed that the fabric quality is good, even though an off-trail suit has a hard life, nothing ripped. The zippers are sealed, they don’t let any air or water through. The zippers are high on the side of the legs that it’s easy to put our boots on, we love it!
The Allied mono suit I was trying on is lined, so it’s relatively warm. If you are very active, you won’t get cold. On the other hand, if you take it for trail riding, you might not find it warm enough in freezing temperatures. It is normal since this mono suit was designed for off-trail riding. I’ve been out on the trail a few times, and honestly, I found it warm for a one-piece. Off-trail, if you get too hot, there are many air vents available for your comfort. When you use them, the air circulates well and allows us to let the heat and humidity out efficiently.
At 509, the snowmobile mono suits are unisex. I ordered an extra small, and it was still a little too big for me. It’s obvious as soon as you put it on that it’s not designed for women’s forms. Despite this, the outfit did not interfere with my movements, and I found it comfortable. If I can request something to 509, it’s to make clothes adapted to women’s forms; it makes a difference in terms of comfort for us.
I’ve sometimes been very warm during my snowmobile rides, but I never got wet because it evacuates moisture adequately. If you fall in the snow many times, don’t worry, the suit remains waterproof and comfortable.
Overall, I’m satisfied with my test. 509 make good products that are now very well recognized in the industry. I hope to be able to give it another try!
Thank you to 509 and SledMagazine.com for allowing me to do this test.
