Let me spoil you the surprise: it wasn’t what you’d expect… If you’d told me at the beginning of SnowShoot MY2026 that I’d leave Polaris testing sessions with a secret soft spot for the TITAN Adventure Ultimate 155, I’d have laughed. I would’ve responded with, “Yeah, right! I’m a Lynx Shredder Turbo rider… my idea of comfort is hanging off the bars with one ski in the air and my track halfway to the moon.” But guess what? After a few hours on that surprisingly nimble trail beast, I caught myself smiling in ways I didn’t expect. I mean, what’s next? A heated seat and a trail snack bag? So, before we get into the real story, here’s a rundown of everything I rode… because they all deserve their moment in the snow.
850 RMK SP 155: Dare to Go Anywhere
A solid, dependable ride. The 2026 850 RMK SP 155 is an ideal choice for riders who want a no-nonsense, well-balanced machine that can tackle just about anything. I found it nimble, forgiving, and perfect for skill progression. Whether you’re just getting into mountain riding or looking for a reliable partner to go deeper into the backcountry, this sled checks a lot of boxes. And here’s the kicker: it offers one of the best value-for-dollar ratios in the entire mountain sled category. Seriously, for the performance you get straight out of the box, the pricing is almost unbeatable. It’s the kind of machine that makes you think, “Wait, why are we spending twice as much to ride twice as hard when this thing does it all without breaking the bank?”
9R RMK Khaos 146 – “Too much of a good thing?”
This one left me scratching my helmet… and questioning my core strength. The Patriot 9R engine delivers a surge of naturally aspirated power that’s impressive on paper—and even wilder in real life. But when you pair that with the short 146-inch track, let’s just say things get… spicy. The 9R RMK Khaos 146 didn’t just feel like it was over-spinning the track—it was practically trying to drill its way to the center of the Earth before I could even throw a re-entry. It’s a ton of track speed right out of the gate, and with no boost to smooth it out. It’s just raw, untamed torque slapping you in the face!
That being said, I have to be honest with you, the sled wasn’t the only one struggling. At some point, I even felt as if I couldn’t handle it either. That short chassis combined with a naturally aspirated 900 cc engine is a LOT to wrangle. Although it did remind me that, sometimes, cheating with a little BOOST is exactly what keeps things “civilized”.
9R PRO RMK Limited Edition: Love at First Sight… and Slight Identity Crisis
It had been a while since I last threw a leg over a Polaris snowmobile. It was in 2020, in fact, back when the first Khaos models hit the scene. So, hopping on the 2026 9R PRO RMK Limited Edition with the Series 9 track (15 × 155 × 3.25), I didn’t entirely know what to expect.
At first sight, this snowmobile looks “badass” in its matte black with chrome and orange accents. But, personally, the heavy-duty bumpers and storage bags were the cherry on TOP! Honestly, at first, I wasn’t convinced while riding it on the trails. But then came the first throttle squeeze off the trail, on flatter terrain with a bit of soft snow. Right then, I thought, “Okay, this feels nice… predictable… smooth… and very torqued.” That 9R PRO RMK was bouncing flawlessly out of the snow. And then I thought, “WOW! This might be it!”
But then we reached steeper terrain with deeper snow… and the vibe shifted. Suddenly, I was all over the place overcorrecting, overpowering everything, and, sure enough, getting my arms pulled! It felt like trying to dance ballet with a Polaris the same way I’ve been breakdancing with my Lynx Shredder for years. In all humility, I have to admit, this machine might have had slightly too much power for me, dot.
Regardless of the shorter track I mentioned earlier, the 9R engine combined with 3.25-inch lugs on the 155-inch-long track was CHEWING. It’s safe to say that I felt as if the machine was riding me more than I rode it. All that raw power and insane and instant track speed had me feeling under-skilled to truly handle this beast. Nevertheless, I could tell this thing was staying on top of the snow much better than any sled I am used to. And it made me thirsty for more seating time on Polaris sleds. I needed to figure it out!
850 Switchback Assault Escape: Trail Comfort Meets Backcountry Curiosity
Hands down, the most comfortable trail ride I had all week. I found the 2026 Switchback Assault Escape smooth and predictable. And it still lets you play in the powder when you wander off the beaten path. I definitely recommend it if you like to mix trail exploration with a little backcountry spice.
At one point, as we were cruising out to the hills, I remember turning to the group and saying, “Wow! This is my first time trying a trail sled—what a smooth ride!” To which Rachel, one of Polaris’ [absolute badass] engineers, kindly corrected: “This isn’t a trail sled, it’s a crossover.”
In my defense, I have zero experience on actual trail sleds. I do, however, have plenty of trail time on mountain sleds. And, let’s be honest, these usually feel like riding a bucking bronco on ice ruts until you hit the powder.
But the Switchback Assault Escape kept its smoothness in check both on and off the trails. I personally don’t ride enough trails to justify jumping into a Switchback, but I very much enjoyed riding it. Although, I wish I could have hit a jump with it… just to see how it would’ve handled!
850 TITAN Adventure Ultimate 155: Your Dad’s Sled… But Actually Impressive
I expected this thing to be a big couch on skis, but it absolutely surprised me! The TITAN Adventure Ultimate 155 was incredibly maneuverable. It gave me a smooth, controlled ride, whether on fresh groomed trails or dipping into deeper snow. It has comfort, power, and capability in one well-built package. I’m used to muscling my Lynx Shredder Turbo around. In comparison, this sled felt like a well-behaved Labrador retriever in lieu of my usual wild wolfdog.
I was most shocked, however, at how ridiculously easy I could initiate sidehills and commit to J-hooks onboard this ultimate workhorse. With all the bells and whistles, high-top seat, mirrors, and ginormous windshield, I definitely got Rachel scared a couple times while sidehilling across a very steep face. Indeed, one faux pas would have sent all these nice accessories flying away in the tumble. Sorry, Rachel, hihi!
Honestly, I had to double-check the specs sheet after riding it. Because there’s no way, I thought, that a sled with that track width and ski stance should feel this light and responsive off-trail. But, believe me, it did!

The Sled that Changed Everything I Thought of Polaris
The lightweight maneuverability of this boosted Matryx sled caught me completely off guard. Keep in mind, I’m coming from the opposite end of the mountain snowmobile spectrum. I have spent the last few seasons wrangling the heaviest beast on the market: my 2023 Lynx Shredder Turbo. In comparison, this Boost RMK Khaos Limited Edition felt so “squirrely”, so sensitive… so radically different. And, just between us, I was blowing every move I attempted… at first.
Oddly enough, that’s exactly when it clicked for me. That feeling of not figuring it out right away, that frustration, that challenge; it wasn’t a dealbreaker… it was a hook. I felt as if the sled was taunting me: “You think you can ride? Then tame me!”
That’s when it hit me: this is the sled I need in my life! Not because it’s deemed easier, but because it’s so different from what I am used to. I don’t want a machine that keeps me in my comfort zone. I want a sled that pushes my limits, humbles me… sharpens me. My sled needs to make me the most well-rounded rider I can be. And that Limited-Edition Patriot Boost RMK Khaos checked every box. It starts with effortless re-entries with air time; this sled just wants “out of its hole”. And it will jump out of it on command, begging me to hold on… if I can. And it goes all the way to the steep technical lines I was able to achieve. Although I am grateful for the forgiveness of the Boost engine when I made small mistakes along the way.
Eventually, I figured how to master the throttle and keep the nose down without trenching. That’s when I figured out that the boosted 2026 RMK Khaos 155 had another level of dancing that I can’t wait to explore! Plus, the Limited Edition package’s pricing seems to have the best value for your buck in this year’s lineup.
Personally, it’s the “ready-to-hit-it-with-style” feel it gives off straight out of the factory that really does it. The 2026 Patriot Boost RMK Khaos 155 Limited Edition looks beautiful as is. With the infamous Walker Evans suspensions, heavy-duty bumpers, and Burandt storage bags included, this sled has everything you need from a big mountain snowmobile with a track that will last (15x155x2.75 Series 8), without lugs flying off the back when speeding on the trails, eager to get to the mountains. And everyone should appreciate that!
Would I SnowCheck It?
Now, the 2026 Patriot Boost RMK Khaos 155 Limited Edition is a SnowCheck exclusive. So, the real question is: would I buy it? If I had the funds, absolutely! Without hesitation. This limited-edition boosted RMK Khaos is, after all, my favorite Polaris of the year. It could even be, quite possibly, my next big riding evolution. This mountain sled made me realize what I’ve been missing, and the challenge I now feel destined to master. Until then, I’ll be dreaming about it while sidehilling my “old Shredder” with a little extra Khaos-inspired flair.
