ToggleSecond part – Trail test
According to information from Kimpex, Rush skis are light, stable and effective in all conditions. Its unique keel design helps reduce steering effort and darting, improving the driving experience. Versatile, Rush skis can be equipped with different carbide runners that improve performance and are compatible with some OEM carbide runners. Available in 7 bright and modern colors, the Rush customizes the style of your snowmobile.
The interest for the ski Rush also lies in the fact that it is very affordable. It also comes in a complete package that includes skis, carbide runners, handles, and adaptors.
Simple and efficient, we buy, install and enjoy!
I had the chance to use these skis in very different conditions. In very hard and icy trails and in fresh snow. My first observation, whether on a firm or soft trail, I did not feel any darting. Even without adjustment, the effort to turn the handlebar was really minimal. At the end of a long ride, I had no pain in my forearms.
So these skis do not dart and the effort on the handlebars is very minimal, but how do they behave on trails? There’s the big surprise! Kimpex sells their skis as skis at a good price. Generally, when we say good price, we also say basic performance. What I really liked about these skis is that they are very predictive and forgiving. Some skis tend to understeer in curves and suddenly bite, which is sometimes a little worrying. Even at higher speeds the skis keep the same very light understeer throughout the curve and do not tend to make “ski lifts”. The J-Edge Single 60° carbide runners, coming with the kit, greatly impressed me on ice. I had as much bite on the ice as I did on the snow. Another feature I watch for when I try skis is how easy they slide. Some skis or runners are very aggressive, but you can feel them slowing down the snowmobile continuously. The best way to see this is when we cut the throttle at the arrival of an intersection. The sliding resistance of the Rush skis is very minimal and will probably also give better fuel economy.
Kimpex Ski Rush, more than economical skis
Were these skis designed for all pilots? For 90% of drivers, these skis will meet 100% of expectations. For the last 10% who would like to ride more aggressively, who wants a firmer steering on the handlebars and for those who want to ride with a very aggressive track, I would recommend more aggressive skis. In order to obtain a homogeneous behavior of the snowmobile on trails, the traction of the skis must be balanced with the traction of the track. A ski that is too aggressive with a track that is not aggressive enough generate a lot of skidding at the exit of the curve. On the other hand, skis that are not aggressive enough with a too aggressive track give the impression to the pilot that the skis escape when exiting the curve and the snowmobile tends to go out wide. In those cases, Kimpex also has the solution for this last 10% of pilots… This solution is called Stealth ski!
Benefits:
- These skis are very affordable
- No darting during my test
- Handlebars easy to turn
- Driving without any surprises and forgives a lot
- Good traction on ice
- Skis slide very well so better fuel economy
Disadvantages:
- Lack a bit of bite for those who like to push in curves
The questioning:
- Too early to analyze the wear of this ski
- How will it behave in minimal snow condition
