Season Review: Women’s CKX Reach Test

Season Review: Women’s CKX Reach Test - snowmobiles - snowmobiles

After 4 years and more than 15,000 kilometers of riding with different CKX kits, I can say that I have some experience in this area! The good news is that I’ve never been disappointed. This year, I had the chance to test the “Reach” kit. Here is the result of my test.

3 in 1

The Reach kit includes pants, coat and softshell jacket. It was the first time I wore a 3 in 1 on a snowmobile and I must admit that I found it very convenient. First, the softshell is nice and you can wear it alone when you stop in a relay. You can also wear it in the spring when you miss your snowmobile.

What is also interesting with a 3 in 1 is that you don’t have to wear a warm sweater. The “softshell” is relatively thin, but it’s still comfortable and warm. Personally, I rode all winter with a simple long-sleeved shirt underneath. That way, you don’t feel embarrassed by several layers of clothing.

Convenient

The Reach is designed for trail snowmobilers and offers several little things that are appreciated by this clientele:

  • Several reflective stripes to be visible in the evening, especially during a storm.
  • A small inside pocket to keep your cell phone warm and prevent it from freezing.
  • A removable hood to keep the coat comfortable with a helmet on your head.
  • Sealed seams and a water-resistant zipper, in case you get caught in the rain.
  • An air intake on both sides for spring rides.
  • Adjustable wrist sleeves to fit different types of gloves.

Look

CKX introduces this year a new shade of pink, a little more orange. So, we appreciate its trendy look that is different from the lighter pink we’ve been used to for the past few years. The color is flashy enough to be well seen in the trails, without looking too “girly" ;-).

Because nothing is perfect, the pants are the only thing CKX should improve. The pants are very warm and comfortable. On the other hand, the fit is slightly different from what the manufacturer offers to women. A slightly tighter fit, especially on the leg, would be better. However, the leg is larger, which makes it easier to wear larger boots such as the famous seal boots. Smaller people will also like the adjustment at the back to reduce the length.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the Reach kit is truly a good choice for those looking for warmth, comfort and a look that won’t go unnoticed. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to passengers as well as to those who drive their own snowmobiles.
