Searchers looking for stranded snowmobilers near Mount Rainier

Search and rescue teams with Pierce and King counties are working to find two stranded snowmobilers in  Mount Rainier National Park.

King County officials said the two people, a 44-year-old man and his 41-year-old girlfriend, were out on a popular snowmobiling trail near Blowout Mountain Sunday and were heading back to Twin Camps when they were caught by whiteout conditions. [

They dug a snowcave, built a fire and spent the night in the cave. Early Monday morning, the man hiked out to where he could get cell phone service and called for help.

He was able to send out texts to give coordinates on where they are.

The woman was reportedly showing signs of hypothermia.

Between 40 and 50 people are involved in the search. They expect to reach the couple Tuesday morning
