A few days ago, I came into possession of the 2016 Renegade X-RS 800. I had a crush right away for this beauty of the snow ! The word « audacious » would describe best it, because its color and style make it astonishing at first sight ! The mix of Bright Yellow, Grey and Black is quite a success ! And what about its lines, shapes and curves that bring such a racing and aggressive look ! I heard so many positive comments about its style made by all kind of people in show rooms at dealers’ and in exhibitions ! This said, let’s check out its technical aspect and see which clientele is aimed by Ski-Doo.
Track…
This machine is equipped with the long edition of 137 in./348 cm, which gives it its Renegade name. With its RipSaw track of 1.5 in./3,8 cm profile and 15 in./38 cm width, you can ride on-and off-trail, which makes it a crossover machine. During Spring Fever event, the manufacturer offers the choice between this track and the pre-studded Ice Cobra for a better grip on ice.
Pilot TS skis…
A very interesting innovation this year is the set of Pilot TS skis ! According to Ski-Doo, the square keel design and the thin runner reduce darting and increase or decrease ski bite in turns. A knob on the ski legs is used to raise or to lower the runner. This ski package is available as a Spring Order option.

X-RS seat
Adjustable riser block
Used in snocross racing, the REV-XS chassis is made robust. It allows a more aggressive riding position for the most daring pilots on tough trails. The narrow seat makes easier the sideways movements of the pilot in turns and provides better ergonomics during stand-up riding. The original riser block is 6 in./15,2 cm high, but on our machine, it has been replaced by the optional adjustable riser block of 8 in./20,3 cm.

The front suspension is the RAS 2. Last year, Ski-Doo has introduced this improved edition of the RAS suspension. The geometry angle has been modified for more precision in bumps, thus perfect for this snowmobile. At front, we have the KYB Pro 40 R aluminum shocks, much lighter. At center, we have the KYB Pro 40 shock.
At rear, the high performance rMotion suspension is back in this model. Quite a reputation for this suspension designed for easier operation. You adjust it with the Quick Adjust system installed on the rear running boards. It does not interfere with your riding and you adjust it on the left side with a lever to increase or decrease the suspension preload. The rear shock is also a KYB Pro 40.

800R E-TEC engine
Nothing less than the 800 E-TEC engine for the Renegade X-RS ! It develops precisely 163,9 HP. Powerful, precise and direct engine that will be very appreciated by speed and instant acceleration fans. A 2-stroke engine with low oil and fuel consumption thanks to the E-TEC technology ! Still according to the recreational vehicle giant, this is the best-selling 800 cc in the industry ! You can read its performance, data and mileage on the analog/digital gauge.

Lots of accessories have been produced to meet your needs. LinQ system rigid tunnel bags of 10+3 liters and 19+3 liters, and a cargo box of 40 liters. Fuel caddy, riser block bag with heated insulated pocket to warm up your camera, for example. Tank bag to store small useful objects and trail map. Handlebar muffs to keep our hands warm under extreme cold temperature, and many more… It will be necessary to add a heated visor outlet since it is not a standard feature on the X-RS. A complete line of clothing has been designed for men and ladies in this category.

To conclude, I will say that obviously, this machine is designed for a sporty and aggressive type of riding ! I will be your eyes and I will write down my first impressions right after my first kilometers ! I am personally grateful to CONTANT managers (www.contant.ca ) for their trust and for making this trial possible ! I chose to customize the machine according to my personality with a graphic kit that TWICE Production has designed and carefully installed !
