In 2012, when Polaris acquired KLIM Technical Riding Gear, everybody was talking about it. Four years later, the snowmobile manufacturer acquires the 509 snow helmet lineup, famous in the snowmobile world.
So, the 509 for Polaris lineup is introduced for 2016-2017 and it can be seen on Polaris web site. There are no big surprises, simply the 509 products we are used to see but with Polaris signature. Among others, we find the famous Aviator Snowmobile Goggle and the 509 for Polaris Altitude Carbon Helmet. In fact, this helmet is offered in various attractive colors!
To my great surprise, this is the only difference at 509’s since the acquisition by Polaris. As it happened when Polaris bought KLIM, Polaris Industries remain very transparent with their acquisitions, which is great for fans of 509 who do not ride any Polaris machine!!
So, be ready to see helmets and goggles with Polaris and 509 brands together in the coming years. I wonder if Polaris will acquire other snowmobile gear companies. One thing is sure, with such an acquisition, Polaris Industries have largely expanded their share of the snowmobile apparel market!
