After teasing people with the Summit Turbo in the mid 2019-2020 season, Ski-Doo has picked up where they left off by announcing its 2021 snowmobile line. On the menu, a ton of new features, but the ones that catch my attention are the introduction of the new 600 EFI engine and the fact that all Ski-Doo models now feature the Gen4 chassis. Once again this year, SledMagazine.com had the chance to try out the 2021 Ski-Doo models during the Snow Shoot.
During the second day of testing, I had the chance to try the new Tundra Sport with the new Gen4 chassis and the new 600 EFI engine. I can't remember the last time I sat on a Tundra. It's not the kind of machine that we get to cover often as a snowmobile media. It didn't take me long to realize how the popularity of this model is justified.
With the Neo Yellow, the Tundra is just gorgeous!
The afternoon we had the Tundra, we were in the mountains. So I started doing off-trail maneuvers like I was on a Summit. To my biggest surprise, the snowmobile was responding very well! Although it's wider and heavier, it was amazing to see what the snowmobile can do in the snow. Also, the snowmobile is easy to handle and floats well in deep snow, which is its vocation after all! I found myself doing some nice maneuvers and even some nice side-hill lines. There's no doubt about it, the Gen4 chassis is well adapted to all categories of snowmobiles, and the Tundra is an excellent example of this.
Even if it's not the Tundra's segment, I still had a lot of fun doing some side-hill lines.
As for the 600 EFI engine, it offers an excellent performance with its 85 HP. Introduced to replace the old 600 Carb and 550 F, this new engine is more economical, more durable, and requires less maintenance. Since it is based on components from the 850 and 600 E-TECs, we can guess that its durability will not be an issue.

The Tundra floats on snow!
Even though during the Snow Shoot I had the chance to try some great Ski-Doo 2021s, the Tundra Sport is still the one I loved the most. That's why it is my 2021 favorite. The package offered by Ski-Doo is very well adapted to many snowmobile adepts. It's simply fun to drive, as well as being a utility vehicle.
