ToggleMid-season review: Arctic Cat Norseman 6000 ES 2018
The Arctic Cat Norseman 6000 ES 2018 has more than 2,000 km on the gauge and it's time to give you my mid-season article. My impressions of this snowmobile are positive as ever and I would say they are even better. I will be happy to explain this to you with new aspects.
First of all, I'm going to talk about its utility side as well as its behavior with a passenger during trail rides. In addition, I have compiled my fuel and oil consumption to share it with you. Follow me in my analysis of the Arctic Cat Norseman 6000 ES 2018: A good all-purpose snowmobile!
In the last month, I was able to test its utility side which had not been exploited much until now. I was very impressed with the Norseman 6000's ability to work, and the components of the snowmobile are strong enough to do hard work. After all, the Norseman 6000 is first and foremost a member of the Arctic Cat utility vehicles, and it's easy to understand why.
I was able to level the trails on the family estate. This tough task was accomplished quickly, without the snowmobile forcing too much in spite of the considerable weight hanging behind it. It is easy to steer and the general balance of the frame is maintained even with a load that seeks to go from right to left.
The Norseman 6000 working.
With spring ringing at our doorstep, it was time to consider the Maple Season and it was the perfect timing for the Arctic Cat Norseman 6000 to shine with a wooden sled filled. Once again, it has proven itself to be excellent in such circumstances to accomplish the task. And for testing numerous models to complete this work, the Norseman clearly excelled since the Arctic Drive clutch provides smooth take-offs and remarkable efficiency at low speeds.
Another aspect I evaluated was the cooling system. For example, when operating at reduced speeds and warmer temperatures, the engine temperature may sometimes rise. Once again, the Norseman surprised me because the cooling system allowed me to drive and work without any engine concern, the temperature warning light never came on.
The addition of a backrest and side luggage allowed us to enjoy the Norseman 6000 even more on trail rides.
Another aspect that I would like to talk about was how it is driving with a passenger. Driving remains intuitive and easy even with the extra weight. The engine provides the power needed to move with a nice speed along trails.
The accelerations are good. Finally, with the addition of a passenger, the Norseman's behavior remains the same and the long track reacts well on the trail. The point that needs to be improved is the rear suspension, it could be more rigidity despite the adjustment set to the maximum.
The Arctic Cat Norseman 6000 is easy to handle off the beaten track… Deep snow will certainly not stop it!
As you've probably noticed in the previous articles, I love playing in unexplored places where the snow is plentiful. So I pushed the Norseman even harder into deep snow to see what it had in its stomach. Let me tell you once again that it everything you need for an off-trail ride with its track. The track is very good with the 600cc CTEC2 2-stroke engine, both combine gave me enough power to take me far from the beaten track without worrying. It is relatively easy to go from the left and right side in the snow. Also, note that stability is impressive thanks to the large skis.
Fuel consumption and oil consumption
It is time to talk about the fuel and oil consumption. The question has been asked a lot. So I am sharing my consumption with you. However, you have to remember that many things can change the consumption, such as average speed, driving, being alone or two, use in the trails or for work, etc. All these variables cause a lot of fluctuation in the final result.
To guide you and give you a better estimate, I made 65% of the trail, 25% off trails and 10% in utility mode. I compiled an average of 20.9 liters of gasoline per 100 km and consumed 2.5 1 US gallon (3.78 l) containers of oil to cover the 2,000 km. A consumption of 473 ml of oil per 100 km. The fuel consumption is not very low, but it also depends on my thumb which is not soft on the accelerator!
That's the end of the mid-season review. However, don't worry, there will be another article to finalize the analysis of the Arctic Cat Norseman 6000 ES 2018 which is an incredible partner in my adventures… It's now time to go back to the snow before the end of the season.
