ToggleIt’s time to introduce the next 2016 Polaris to be long term trialed in the upcoming “yes we’re still waiting for it to begin” season.
For the past several years SledMagazine.com has reported on and enjoyed the excitement and performance of some of the most premium models of the Polaris line up. We’ve also produced several articles expressing concerns that the sport of snowmobiling is becoming a sport of fewer, more privileged Kings and Queens. SledMagazine.com continues to give sincere recognition to the models that each of the manufacturers offer which provide everything needed to enjoy our great sport without the premium price.
For 2016 we will put our focus where our mouth has often been. The more affordable 600 Indy will be our ride for thousands of Northeast miles and smiles. Will the 600cc Cleanfire live up to our performance and consumption expectations in every snow condition we will encounter? Will a less than ultra premium shock package consistently cushion the bumps? How will the Pro Ride front suspension work with the more traditional Indy coupled rear suspension? How will the Indy package respond, handle, corner and ride? Will the fun factor satisfy and inspire? Those are the questions to be answered all season long.
Since its reintroduction the modern Indy line has continually expanded with unique performance and uncommon value. “An Indy for everyone and everything” For 2016 we’ll get back to the basics of fun and greater affordability. After riding the latest and greatest of premium Polaris’ we hope that our Indy experience will be interesting, enlightening and possibly even inspiring to our readers.
The SledMagazine.com ducks were very happy and curious
Once again our Long Term Trial Polaris will feature a full complement of genuine Polaris accessories. Accessory highlights, in our next Indy article!
Part of our long term trial program is always a high exposure aspect. Polaris wants their Editor Sleds to be seen. They want us to interact with our fellow snowmobilers and introduce you to their products. To do that it’s important that we stand out in a crowd on the trails and at rest stops across the Northeast. To reach that goal, our Indy model for 2016 will be the ultra eye catching Limited Edition Terrain Domination SP.
Greg and Roadside Motorsports Owner Tony Brisson with the Sledmagazine.com TD Indy
The 2016 (600cc only) Terrain Domination special edition Indy includes the 1.25” Ripsaw II track, Midnight Blue Retro graphics and tunnel with Red painted rails, spindles and ski tips. It is also accented by included white nose pan, hand guards, extreme front bumper and a Pro ride under seat bag.
The TD Indy comes with the same Fox IFP shock package and Pro Steer skis as is found on the 600 and 800 Indy SP models. It is of significant importance to our trial that the 600 Cleanfire engine, P-85 clutching and Phantom brake on the TD and SP models are exactly the same as on the entry level Indy 600 at $8,199 US MSRP.
Up, up and away, come on snow!
We could have easily picked the 800 Indy and it would have powerful Indy choice. But, we’ve experienced and reported on the Polaris 800 and 800 HO engines over the past few years. And we really wanted to showcase the characteristics, performance and economy of Polaris’ Cleanfire 600cc motor. In addition our readers have frequently expressed significant interest in the capability and performance of the 600cc class.
Part of SledMagazine.com’s unique real world format has always been to match the trial to the designed focus of the sleds we ride. This is exactly our plan for our short track 600 Indy TD. It’s not meant to be a lake racer, deep snow performer, ditch banger or long distance gear hauling touring model. While Polaris’ Indy lineup does feature a model for everyone and every need, this Indy is focused on being an agile, full featured, value priced and fun trail model.
Do snowmobilers really need the latest and greatest “top shelf” sleds to enjoy snowmobiling? We’re about to begin the process of finding out the answer to that very important question.
