Many restaurateurs say March is a slow month for business. But this year, for the eateries that rely heavily on snowmobile traffic, it’s been a good ride.
The winter started strong with snowstorms in mid December, but by late January the season for sledders seemed all but lost — for the third year in a row. Then the storms that walloped the North Country in February and March helped create some of the best trails in years, said South Warren Snowmobile Club President Bob “Hammer” Grant.
Grant said the club this year had about 900 members traversing the trails.
With many traveling from out of town, snowmobile trailers in tow, lodging establishments, eateries, retailers, trailer-supply companies and fuel stations were among the many types of businesses that got a bottom-line boost.
“They all benefit from a good year,” Grant said.
