FXR BOOST LITE MONOSUIT: The ideal partner for snowmobile rides
With the generous collaboration of FXR, I had the chance to test the new FXR BOOST LITE MONOSUIT. I started the 2017-2018 season with style. The flamboyant colors match perfectly with my CKX Titan helmet that I really like! Here are the characteristics and my impressions of this very well designed one-piece.
Clothes design
The FXR BOOST LITE one-piece is made from carefully designed and combined fabrics to provide optimum comfort in harsh winter conditions. The general idea for a high-performance snowsuit is relatively simple. All you need to do is provide a good body moisture evacuation while providing effective protection against wind and cold. It is also necessary to allow the whole thing to be waterproof and have a light fabric while remaining flexible at all times. Not so easy after all… The FXR BOOST LITE is a real champion because it has the ability listed above.
FXR has chosen a shell made of durable nylon and polyester that is laminated with HydrX Pro™ to form the first barrier. Then, a high-performance ACMT™ membrane provides a water-repellent capacity of 20,000 mm and an air permeability of 8,000 g/m2. In other words, the combination create a barrier that is waterproof and windproof, while allowing an optimal evacuation of moisture. Then there's the interior textile, also with HydrX Pro™ technology, it will keep you warm. It also has seams that are sealed and waterproof.
The FXR BOOST LITE MONOSUIT has several very interesting features such as zippers well located on the legs and under the arms to accentuate air circulation and to allow you to cool down when necessary. There are also several pockets to bring things with you. There is padded areas on the knees and buttocks to increase comfort. There is also a multitude possibilities of adjustment to perfectly fit to your body.
The test
With the season that started early, I was able to quickly put the one-piece to the test. I have already driven more than 1000 km on and off the trail with the FXR BOOST LITE. The first aspect I want to talk about is, without hesitation, the comfort. It provides a perfect fit for my physiognomy and this is due to the many strategic adjustments available.
One of the days that put the one-piece to an extreme test is the hot and rainy period that hit us with more than 20 mm of rain in a very short time. I must say, the waterproofing has been put to the test. After more than 12 consecutive hours in the rain, the waterproof of the FXR BOOST LITE really impressed me. At the end of the ride, I was barely beginning to feel a bit of moisture inside the elbows and between the legs. It's definitely very effective and it's the only time I had a sensation of moisture.
In off-track mode, it have shown me the comfort and breathability of the textiles. Indeed, despite of the temperature fluctuating between -15°C and -25°C, the fabric remained very flexible and evacuated the moisture produced by my sustained physical effort. At the end of the day playing in the snow, I was dry to return to the chalet. However, when I returned in the trails, I felt a certain lack of insulation and that's when a liner is very useful. Moreover, there are one-piece liner specially adapted to fit the BOOST LITE MONOSUIT offered by FXR.
Numerous rides on trails and at very different temperatures allowed me to give you my impressions. The FXR BOOST LITE MONOSUIT is suitable for days on the trail, but shines more in off-trail rides. It is very effective when you’re doing more intense and physical efforts. It's also really fun to have a one-piece, because no snow can sneak in despite of several good rolls in the snow.
Conclusion
The one-piece combination FXR BOOST really satisfied me with its many qualities. I highly recommend it! However, don't forget to analyze your needs and opt for a liner if the insulation is not sufficient, depending on the type of conditions you are about to face. If you’re not a fan of jumpsuit, you must know that FXR also offers a complete line of matching coats and pants.
