FREESTYLE SNOCROSS COMPETITIONS RETURN TO THE GRAND PRIX SKI-DOO OF VALCOURT PRESENTED BY FOX

Extreme sports fans will be delighted with the return of Freestyle Snocross competition at the 31st running of the Grand Prix Ski-Doo of Valcourt presented by FOX, which will be held February 15-17, 2013. Two exhibition shows are scheduled on the specially prepared track where athletes will showcase their skills doing high-flying aerial tricks while riding their 190 kilos (450 pounds) snowmobiles. The first show will start on Saturday February 16 at 5:00 p.m. following on-track activities on Circuit Yvon Duhamel, with the second event being held Sunday prior to the Grand Prix of Valcourt’s final two races.

Some of the best freestyle snocross riders from the American Northeast will be competing at Valcourt for prizes and glory, including eighteen-year old Joe Mclafferty, one of the headliners at the Grand Prix. The Turner, Maine rider has been invited to compete in the next X-Games in Aspen, Colorado from January 24-27. His main competition in Valcourt will come from 22-year old freestyler DJ Coffin and from Seth and Brandon Bell. Admission to the Freestyle Snocross exhibition is $10 per person after 3:00 p.m., and free of charge for Grand Prix of Valcourt ticket holders.

This type of event requires knowledge and expertise and to ensure the success of this year’s event, we are working in collaboration with the Outer Limits Tour. It is also with great pleasure that we are announcing the return of the Friday Night Drag Racing Under the Light event, a true crowd pleaser."

 


Since its introduction to the Grand Prix program in 2010, the Friday Night Drag Racing Under the Light has been a great success with both fans and drag racers with the number of entrants on the rise ever since. The on-track activities are scheduled to begin with free practice at 3:00 p.m., followed by the friendly amateur drag racing showdown. Rider information can be obtained at www.grandprixvalcourt.com/en/courses/acceleration/. The competition will conclude around 9:00 p.m. following the Pro Outlaws class finals. The action will then move under the big top with music from the Budweiser Show: This Side Up. Admission to Circuit Yvon Duhamel is free of charge for anyone passing through the Grand Prix turnstiles after 3:00 p.m.

For three days, the Grand Prix Ski-Doo of Valcourt on Circuit Yvon Duhamel will showcase the world’s best ice oval track snowmobile racers, as well as the top professional snocross riders in North America. Also on the program for the Grand Prix weekend are the exciting motorcycle, ATV and UTV ice racing competitions. There will also be plenty of fun and games for the whole family, including live rock bands, slides and snowmobile rides for kids.

Tickets for the February 15-17, 2013 Grand Prix of Valcourt presented by FOX are currently on sale at the ticket offices at 1-866-532-7543 Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., or by visiting www.grandprixvalcourt.com/en/. Until February 13, 2013 inclusively, fans can save $10 by purchasing a three-day heated trackside G Suite pass for just $90, taxes included. Fans of the great outdoors can also benefit from this special offer with a savings of 20% off the regular price for three-day general admission tickets at $45 instead of $55. Accompanied by an adult, children under 12 are admitted free on the Grand Prix site. However, all guests, including children, must hold a valid ticket to enter the trackside suites.

The Grand Prix Ski-Doo of Valcourt is the great Quebec winter motorsport classic. Launched in 1983, this year the Grand Prix celebrates its 31st consecutive running the weekend of February 15-17, 2013. Some of the greatest names in snowmobile racing have had their moment at circuit Yvon Duhamel in Valcourt, including Canadian Blair Morgan, who won eight snocross Grand Prix finales. Also outstanding is the Wahl family of Greenbush, Minnesota who have earned 13 wins in the feature race finale on the ice oval speedway: four by David between 1988 and 1994, six by his nephew Terry from 1995 and 2003, and three by Dustin, son of David, in 2008, 2009 and 2012.
