ToggleIt’s time to talk to you about the test snowmobile after 1500 km. The mileage is slightly lower than at the same time last year due to the late season, but I can tell you that I was totally thrilled with the performance of the turbo from the very first kilometres!
Two seasons ago, I had a 2-stroke 850 cc snowmobile. It had a good performance, but not to belittle my old snowmobile, the 900 ACE turbo, in terms of performance, is going to give its driver a lot more for his money.
When I took possession of the snowmobile, and when I shared my first impressions with you, I told you about the equipment included and the feeling of confidence that this machine exuded. I can confirm with certainty that this machine responds very well to what a snowmobiler is looking for.
A Brief Comment
I’m going to talk to you about the behaviour of this snowmobile on trails, its handling, performance, fuel per 100 km, comfort, and this, from an embryonic point of view, because I’m at the beginning of the test.
First Trail Ride
Usually I need to ride several kilometres before I feel comfortable and at ease, but this time the result was immediate. Just a few adjustments to the front and rear suspension and that’s it; no additional adjustments for the rest of the season.
900 ACE Turbo Engine
The 899 cc 4-stroke 899 cc engine with 150 horsepower direct injection gives very good acceleration and responds immediately, especially in sport mode. In addition, the ITC electronic throttle allows the driver to adjust his or her driving style.
The snowmobiler will surely appreciate the power of this engine when riding on trails. As for fuel consumption, here is a first observation, but I will be able to be more precise when the tests are completed.
For the moment, in different trail conditions, the fuel consumption was about 15 litres per 100 km, which provides about 240 km to 250 km with the 36-litre tank. It always depends on the snow conditions and on the manner of driving.
The REV 4 Chassis
The chassis is wider for a 4-stroke compared to a 2-stroke. The components included by the manufacturer of the Renegade 900 ACE turbo are of high quality. rMotion shock absorbers and suspensions significantly improve handling.
It weighs 524 lbs or 238 kg. The 4-stroke snowmobile weighs 49 lbs more than my 600 R 2-stroke from last year. It’s not huge for a 4-stroke and the snowmobile is very maneuverable.
Comfort
For a trail snowmobile enthusiast like me, this machine makes its rider happy to drive in high-quality comfort. The seat is well designed. It is large and comfortable which makes long rides much more pleasant.
In General
Since the beginning of the season, this snowmobile has surprised me on every ride. I can tell you that I am very satisfied.
I will try to tell you more about the features of this wonderful machine by the end of my tests.
