Factory Customization of your snowmobile : Polaris raises the bar

Since a few years now, the Minnesota manufacturer keeps on catching our attention with various innovations that show his determination to win back the 1st place on snowmobile sales.   This is not an easy challenge, as competition is fierce and innovation is a main issue for all manufacturers.  But being innovative can be shown in many ways, not only with high-tech features.  This is exactly the offer from Polaris :  Factory Customization of your snowmobile.  New ?  Absolutely yes, considering the level where Polaris took the concept.

Offered since last year on spring models, the Deep Snow SnowCheck Option is available only on the RMK and Switchback Assault models for 2015.  However, the customization elements are at a much higher grade than those of last year.  For example, multiply the available options by the eligible models and you get more than 20 000 possible combinations !  All these variants may not be completely different, but it is plenty enough to get a unique distinguishing snowmobile for 2015 !  How does it work ?  Step by step, you choose the structure, the look and the practical elements of your snowmobile and then it is custom-made for you directly at Polaris factory in Roseau.

Step #1 – Choose your sled :

  • Choose the platform : This first step brings you to choose among three models, RMK, Pro-RMK or Assault.  You should know that making this choice means choosing a different variation of platform for each model.  For example, the carbon fiber or aluminum overstructure, the tunnel reinforcements, the drive belt or drive chain and the variable spacing of the front suspension are crucial decisions the buyer must take.
  • Choose the engine :  This essential step in a snowmobiler’s life offers you the choice between the 2-stroke 600 cc or the 800 H.O. Cleanfire engine.
  • Choose the track : At this step, the wise buyer has the chance to choose another main feature of an extreme or off-trail snowmobile, that is the track.  Many types are available, 144, 155 or 163 in., according to your preferences.

Step #2 – Choose your color :

This is probably the step where the customization of your new snowmobile will be the most visible.  Effectively, you can choose among 8 colors for the side panel, 3 colors for the tunnel and 3 colors for the rear suspension rail.  Only with the combination of these elements, you have all it takes to create a truly distinctive snowmobile that stands out from the crowd.

The 20 000 variants announced by the manufacturer really exist and you will understand that there may be some very subtle differences between them.  In fact, probably 1 000 or 2 000 combinations are really noticeable, which is much more anyway that what is actually offered by the industry.  I applaud Polaris for this bright innovation that really allows us to build our snowmobile.  But don’t forget :  this option is offered only on spring sale period ending April 15th, 2014.  For more details or to create your own snowmobile, click on www.polaris.com/en-ca/snowmobiles.
