People who practise outdoor sports often say the following: there is no bad weather, just bad clothes … and it’s quite true. I’ve been wearing CKX snowmobile suits for several years now, and this year, I still trust them. This is why I’m very happy to tell you that I’ve been given the opportunity to try out the CKX Master Kit.

The Jacket

This jacket keeps me nice and warm. As soon as I went out on my first snowmobile ride, I could see it because the temperature was -20 degrees Celsius when we left in the morning. I didn’t feel any coolness seep in after several kilometres, and I stayed dry all day. The jacket has all the necessary features for the snowmobiler. Here are the characteristics listed by the manufacturer:

  • Fibtastik fabric 100% Nylon
  • Fleece lining at shoulder and back
  • Taped sealed seams
  • Water-resistant 2-way front zip YKK aqua Gard
  • 2 warm hand pockets with zip
  • Easy access pocket at chest
  • Accessory pocket on the arm
  • Adjustable wrist cuffs
  • Lycra inner cuffs
  • Inner snow skirt
  • Pre-shaped elbows for comfort
  • Kill switch D-ring
  • Reflective print
  • Body insulation: 200 g Thermoshield
  • Sleeves insulation: 160 g Thermoshield

The Bib

I call it the real bib for the trail snowmobiler. It’ll keep you warm despite a drop in temperature, and it completes the jacket very well. The front and back of the bib go up high, which keeps the upper body warm. Nylon reinforcements at the knee, leg and seat have been added to prevent premature wear. The knees are padded and pre-shaped for added comfort, and the zippers go all the way down the legs. Here are the features of the Master bib:

  • Fibtastik fabric 100% nylon
  • Inner fleece insert at seat and knee
  • Taped sealed seams
  • Cordura 500D reinforced knee, leg, and back seat
  • Two easy-access hip pockets with zip
  • Side stretch bib panel
  • Full-length side opening with waterproof zip
  • Adjustable inner suspender system
  • Inner snow gaiters with Velcro
  • Pre-shaped knees for comfort
  • Reflective print
  • Insulation: 180 g Thermoshield
  • Windproof: 5000 mm
  • Waterproof: 5000 mm
  • Breathability: 5000 g/m²/ day
  • Activity Level: Low effort, long rides sitting
  • Heat Level: Extremely warm
