After an entire winter guiding snowmobile tours in Montana, Joe Erickson shares what impressed him most—and what still needs improvement. Let’s Step Outside: Testing CKX Snowmobile Gear All Winter I feel like I live in my gear all winter when I’m guiding snowmobiles. Customers ask if I work out to keep in shape for my […]
Built for Every Winter Condition **A full-season test of CKX’s warmest riding gear—from deep powder to long days behind the camera. When the first long-range forecasts predicted a colder-than-average winter for the 2025–2026 season, I decided to prepare accordingly. Instead of chasing the lightest possible setup, I chose warmth, durability and versatility. My goal wasn’t […]
For years, snowmobilers had to live with what seemed like an unavoidable compromise. On one side were full-face helmets that offered outstanding protection from the cold and wind but could become uncomfortable as physical activity increased. On the other were motocross-style helmets, highly popular among backcountry riders for their superior ventilation, yet often requiring sacrifices […]
The CKX Mission helmet no longer needs an introduction. Its reputation is well established, and there are already many reviews about it. On my end, I’m not trying to reinvent the wheel. I’m simply sharing my experience, built out on the trails after several snowmobiling seasons and using both versions of the Mission helmet, including […]
When it comes time to choose a snowmobile that meets all our needs, it can sometimes be difficult to find one that truly lives up to expectations. I’m the type of rider who constantly looks to maximize fun, performance, versatility, and efficiency. I’m based in Centre-du-Québec, and when I think about buying a personal snowmobile, […]
I received the SeatJack LT from Kimpex to install it on my personal snowmobile, in a very simple and practical context. With three children at home, I was looking for a solution to safely take them sledding while maintaining good snowmobile handling. The installation presented here was completed during the holiday season, alongside my father. […]
There’s a difference between playful… and planted. Between light… and locked in. Between flickable… and flat-out unshakeable. The 2027 Lynx Shredder RE 3,700 850 E-TEC Turbo R doesn’t beg for attention. It doesn’t try to be the lightest-feeling sled in the parking lot. It doesn’t scream “look at me” with smoke and mirrors. It just charges […]
This winter, I have the opportunity to conduct a full test of a KLIM riding gear ensemble for motoneiges.ca. It’s important to clarify from the start that this setup is primarily trail-oriented, both in its design and its level of insulation. That said, my intention is clear: I will deliberately push it into off-trail conditions, […]
A Full Season in the Chic-Chocs There are snowmobiles you test. And there are snowmobiles you learn to master. The 2026 Ski-Doo Summit X with Expert package, 165″ track, and 850 E-TEC Turbo R engine clearly falls into the second category. When I first got on it, I knew this wouldn’t be a forgiving machine. […]
