Offering a new platform this year, BRP had only one thing in mind : to increase the pleasure of riding a snowmobile.
The new generation of the 2017 REV platform, the 4th since its launch in 2003, provides a better riding position. By centralizing the powerpack, the engineers had for only goal to offer the most powerful snowmobiles in their categories, the most easy to handle, with the most precise responses and the most agile. Honestly, they succeeded and we saw it on the models we tested at the Snow Shoot.
Basically, we must admit that it was quite a challenge. They had to create a new narrower engine in order to put the powerpack at the center of the chassis. This way, less effort is required to bend your snowmobile during maneuvers on trail, mostly in curves or on sinuous sections. Control of the snowmobile is highly improved. They almost achieved a perfect (50/50) side-to-side distribution of the weight.
So, the same effort is required turning right as left. No need to force on one side more than on the other, as it often happened in the past. The body movements directly impact the handiness and the agility of your snowmobile. The new platform also allowed to increase the space for footrests, which lets you move both side-to-side and front-to-back. So, you get more possible riding styles by having more choices of positions.
The MXZ TNT is without doubt a nice example of these new possible styles of riding. We learned it when we piloted the MXZ TNT at the Snow Shoot.
