Daniel Sasseville, test pilot, wearing the Absolute Trail suit, the Ski-Doo Tec+ boots and the BRP Performance Outdry gloves

We all know that BRP offers snowmobile clothes for each type of snowmobilers, such as mountain, crossover, performance, touring, recreational and utility type of riding. (On SledMagazine.com, you will find this link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S5pAoFz3THs presenting a video filmed with Mrs Tina Pelkey, from BRP, about their clothes.)

In that context, being a snowmobiler who likes long rides or aggressive riding, BRP offered me 2 outfits in accordance with these types of riding.

The first kit is the Absolute 0 jacket and highpants, more designed for long rides and with optimal insulation.

The second one is the Absolute Trail suit, more designed for active riders looking for less insulated and more breathable outfit.

In this article, I will talk about the Absolute Trail clothes. Another article concerns the Absolute 0 clothes and you will find it also on www.sledmagazine.com .

As said above, this kit is made for active riders who will get warmer and who will sweat.

Here are the characteristics of the jacket :

With its very contemporary style and advanced technology, the jacket offers exceptional performance to moderate and active riders.

  • 100 % seams and logos sealed.
  • Waterproof, breathable and windproof membrane.
  • Underarm and back venting.
  • Powder skirt.
  • Shaped sleeves and front triple flap with microfleece.

Shell : Sympatex 2-ply laminated polyester

Insulation : PrimaLoft Black

The jacket is offered in orange and black, with 3 outer pockets and 2 inner pockets.

So, this winter, I wanted to check out all the characteristics of this outfit that combines the most advanced waterproof and breathable technology.

The outer shell is made of Sympatex membrane already proven on other BRP products. It is 100 % waterproof and windproof. It matches our type of riding : the more active our riding gets, the more breathable is the shell.

All seams and logos are sealed and zippers are water-resistant.

The PrimaLoft Black insulation keeps us warm without making us too warm when we get very active.

The jacket has 3 vents, upper back and underarms, to evacuate even more heat when we are piloting more aggressively, like in off-trail riding.

Sleeves and knees are shaped for easier motion when riding sitting.

I tested this outfit at about -20 °C and yet, it remained supple and comfortable.

Another quality of this suit that I really liked is that it is waterproof. Considering the winter conditions we have, it often happens that we ride under wet snow or even rain. Water and moisture never infiltrated the jacket or the highpants.

I appreciated the front double flap for its protection against wind and the underneath zipper.

One of the inner pockets is very convenient to store our cap or tuque.

The highpants offer the same characteristics than the jacket, the PrimaLoft Black insulation and the Sympatex membrane.

Side zippers are full-length, water-resistant and protected by a double flap.

The highpants offer adjustable waist, which is very useful because I could adjust it depending on the layers I was wearing. Suspenders are also removable and adjustable.

Knees are reinforced, like the crotch that comes into contact with the sides of the snowmobile.

Another interesting characteristic is that the gaiter sealing the ankle has a hook to tie it to your Ski-Doo Tec+ boot, which keeps the gaiter from sliding up

So, this clothe is perfect for snowmobilers looking for the best high performance product with moderate insulation for more heat.

Snowmobilers who are looking for a suit with the same characteristics but who are more sensible to cold and less active, could try the Absolute 0 suit perfect for colder temperatures. Please read my article about it on www.SledMagazine.com .

I would also like to refer you to my article on www.SledMagazine.com about underwear, also called base layer, because this one will definitely influence the efficiency of your snowmobile suit.

Finally, I would like to thank BRP for giving me the opportunity to test this outfit.
