Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle

Yamaha Editorial Workshop 2015

Yamaha introduces for 2016 the YCC-T technology (Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle) on the Vector and Venture models (except for a few editions). In the installation made by Yamaha on its snowmobiles, there is always a wire between the thumb and the Y-CCT controller. Among other things, it allows to offer to snowmobilers the feel their thumb is used to – all while taking advantage of the latest technologies!

This technology is developed by Yamaha since 2006. It was previously offered on their high-performance motorcycles. Even if it shares the technology and some components with the motorcycle industry, the snowmobile version of the YCC-T has required a totally new programming adapted to the performance needed on trail.

The D-mode controls fuel flow as well as air intake. One of the advantages of this innovation is the elimination of the idle control system.

We have been able to appreciate the functioning of the YCC-T system on the workshop tables.

Description of the YCC-TOverview of the YCC-T

The Yamaha YCC-T system takes into consideration the position of thumb, but also its moving speed to avoid wrong manipulations, mostly at low speed. The controller analyzes the thumb movements to smoothen occasional surges. The result is levelled  power delivery to clear out aberrations caused by involuntary movements.

This system also allows to offer 3 engine modes (Sport, Touring, Entry) in order to adjust the engine speed to the conditions or to the pilot (level of experience).
