Trail riders calling on snowmobilers Written by Brenden Harris

The Sunset Trail Riders are hoping for some help from those with snowmobiles, as they work to open the trails in the Kenora area, after the bad weather. They're asking riders to help pack the trail along the lake stakes about 15 feet on each side. They say they can't send the groomer out onto the lake until there's enough ice to support the weight of the vehicle.

They're also looking for some volunteers to help out during the riding season. They're looking for anyone who can help with staking or clearing trails to contact them, in order to help them have the trails operations as soon as possible.

Trails in Kenora and Dryden remain classified as unavailable by the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs. However, riders in Sioux Lookout have a couple of different trails to choose from. A few of their trails opened last week, and they're expanding as the time goes on.
