The iMotoneige Application: An Essential Tool

Carrying a paper map is always important, but it is not pleasant to unfold and fold the map when you need it. I don’t know why, but every time you must use it, it’s always very windy or it snows a lot so the card tears or gets soaked. Also, if you cross several regions during your trip, you will need to have many paper maps with you, which takes up lots of space in your luggage or your coat. The application uses the satellite geolocalization of your phone. You can see where you are on the trail at any time, even without a network. This is very useful when you are at an intersection, and you are not sure which way to go or when there is not much signalization, and you want to know the number of the trail.

The application is also convenient to see when the groomer last circulated on the trails. Just activate the option in the surfacing delay menu, and you’re done. Everything is classified according to colour code: green 0-12 hours, yellow 12-24 hours, orange 24-36 hours, grey 36-72 hours and white 72 hours and more. There are two updates of the surfacing time per day, one at 6 am and the other at 1 pm. I often plan my rides using the application when I want to have beautiful, freshly surfaced trails.

The app also allows you to plan and calculate the distance of your trips. All you have to do is select on the map the place of your departure, your stops and the end of your trip, the application will calculate everything for you. Once you have made your itinerary, if you want to send it to your friends it is possible to do so via SMS, email or copy the itinerary to insert it into the application of your choice, Word, PowerPoint, etc.

Also, you can see the positioning of places of interest such as hotels, dealerships, gas stations that are located along your route. You even have an option to display the weather according to your position. All this on the same application to plan a great and beautiful day.
