The ewool Muske Heated Vest test

The ewool Muske Heated Vest test

Being cold while riding a snowmobile ruin all the fun of a great ride. Moreover, as a test pilot, I often test more sports-oriented snowmobiles equipped with smaller, often almost non-existent, windshields. Of course, when the temperature drops below -25 C, you often feel a coolness on the chest.

Sometimes when the ride lasts several hours, you get cold, and the body heat is no longer enough. Over the years, some of my colleagues have tried several heated items, but I never had the opportunity to try one of these heated items.

So, it was with excitement that I agreed to test the Muske vest made by ewool. I was pleased to learn that this product is made in Quebec. With the cold weather we had in Quebec, I had the ideal conditions to test this product.

For this test, the manufacturer gave us a vest, two lithium batteries and a wire to connect to a snowmobile if necessary. Usually, we don’t need the cable. It is an option if the batteries are dead.

First, both batteries must be charged. Both batteries charge simultaneously, a few hours are required for a complete charge.

The batteries are inserted in a pocket located at the bottom of your back. You connect one battery at a time, and one battery lasts about 4 hours at low power. I didn’t test the high power because the vest was already warm enough.

You wear a jacket as close to your body as possible. I wear a sweater or long-sleeved undergarment, then put on the heated vest.

When you get cold, just turn on the vest with the small control situated in front of the vest at the waist. So far, I have always used only the lower level. After a few seconds, we feel the heat from the vest and can then fully enjoy our ride.

A small detail I noticed, because situated at the waist, sometimes the controls would switch to the higher level, and I would have to turn the level down or turn the vest off. The manufacturer is already working on this little problem… When the midday temperature is warmer, I stop to disconnect the battery wire. This avoids any unwanted activation.

For me, both batteries provide me with enough power for a full day of snowmobiling even in very cold conditions.

The design of the vest and the choice of materials indicates to me that this vest will be part of my “snowmobile kit” for many years.

If the cold weather prevents you from enjoying your snowmobile rides, I recommend the Muske jacket from ewool without hesitation.

I want to thank the manufacturer ewool for allowing me to enjoy my snowmobile season even more.
