The Auberge du km 31 in Monts-Valin : what a welcoming place !

A bunch of SledMagazine.com collaborators spent the week-end of January 14^th and 15^th exploring the territory of Monts-Valin located north of Saguenay.  Along the hundreds of kilometers of trails, we discovered very unique scenery, wonderful mountains and exceptional snowy conditions.  Over it all, we want to draw snowmobilers’ attention on an oasis they have to see.

Right in the middle of an outstanding wildlife territory, the Auberge du km 31 is located on trail Trans-Québec 93 in the middle of mountains, on the shores of LakeJalobert in the Zec Martin-Valin.  It is also possible to get there by road.  It may be a very nice place to stay and to enjoy many winter activities such as ice fishing, cross-country skiing, skating, snowshoeing and initiation to trapping.

Here, winter starts earlier than anywhere else in Québec so it is not a problem to book your winter vacations.  The snowy conditions in these mountains last over 6 months and snow can be 4 metres deep at some places.  This small inn of 18 rooms is isolated on a large wildlife territory, fully self-sufficient and very comfortable.  It also offers a few cabins; some can accommodate up to 10 persons with comfort.  Located on top of a cliff, the view on the close area and on LakeJalobert is just breathtaking.

Visitors can also discover the joy of mountain snowmobiling through a multi-activities package that includes snowmobiles for rent.

For experienced snowmobilers, this unbelievable oasis is also a halt to discover an excellent dining room.  The various menu offers plentiful Sunday brunch, sophisticated diner that includes, among others, seafood dishes, trout fondue, delicious steaks worth of the best steakhouses, fine dishes with sauce, desserts you cannot refuse or just look at.  And all this delicious food is served by warm personnel dedicated to offer you a mouth-watering dining experience.

The chef himself and the boss, Mrs Lina Morin, make sure their clients are 100 % satisfied.  It is quite a pleasure to have a long diner in such a wonderful, comfortable and warm setting offered in the dining room of the Auberge du km 31.  Short-stay visitors may put their snowmobile equipment for drying in well organized checkrooms and then, leave with comfortable dry pieces.  The central fireplace and the numerous windows are part of an environment of quality, geared to offer the most enjoyable experience and an unforgettable stay.
