Hello ! I am a snowmobiler who likes different types of rides, like aggressive, touring, off-trail, and no matter the weather. I was looking for boots that would evacuate moisture all while keeping my feet warm.

When I looked at the offers on the market, I found the Alpha boots made by Motorfist.

I met Mr Syl Marleau, Motorfist Sales Manager for Eastern Canada and I explained to him what kind of boots I wanted, boots that would keep my feet dry and warm. I already owned boots that were very warm, but I had to take them off in relays because my feet would overheat and become very moist.

Mr Marleau showed me 3 types of boots that could meet my requirements : Alpha boots, Carbide boots, Stomper boots.

All of them have the eVent liner. When we wear boots that keep our feet warm, but that are inefficient to evacuate moisture, our feet overheat and become very moist. Then, our feet get cold and we are uncomfortable.

The eVent membrane combined with the Primaloft insulation blocks wind, makes the boots waterproof and very breathable, our feet stay dry and the Primaloft membrane keeps our feet warm.

Alpha Boots

Are made with dual reel BOA technololy. It includes two reels, one at front, one at rear, that replace laces. It is very easy to tighten and to adjust and it is very quick to remove the boots.

Carbide Boots

Have laces and would be a little warmer with a little more Primaloft insulation.

Stomper Boots

Also have laces. They would be a little more supple, with same quantity of insulation than the Alpha boots.

My analysis

I tested the Alpha boots.

I really liked the reel adjustment system that let me tighten the bottom and the top of the boot separately, and to remove boots, I only had to pull the reel and all was quickly untied. Also, reels are on front and at rear, so they are not in the way at all.

The boots are really comfortable; my feet did not get cold and above all, they remained dry.

There is a steel toe cap and it is not annoying.

I felt firm on my feet with these boots on, good grip to the ground and they support very well my ankles.

Even if others are lighter, the Alpha boots are not heavy, their weight was just fine.

In short, if you want to ride with warm and dry feet, the eVent membrane is really efficient. I tested the boots a few times at -30 °C and my feet remained warm. Before, when I went inside relays, I had to remove my boots to avoid perspiration and to evacuate warmth, but with the Alpha boots, I did not have to do so.

Finally, the Carbide boots are designed for those who want optimal warmth, but the Alpha boots really kept my feet warm even at -30 °C.
