Tesoro Corporation withdraws title sponcership of Iron Dog

Tesoro Corporation, which has provided sponsorship for the Iron Dog, has withdrawn its commitment of Title Sponsor for the 2010 Race.

«We are disappointed. We have had a great, long partnership with Tesoro. In this economic time, they are studying budgets and revisiting priorities. The Iron Dog fell to a different priority level this year, says Laura Bedard, Iron Dog Executive Director.

It is important to alert other sponsors and race supporters of Tesoro’s decision, because some associations are made for the Tesoro Brand.

Bedard continues, «We are grateful to Tesoro for their past support of the Iron Dog, and look forward to working with them in the future.»

The partnership with Tesoro has developed over the years. Tesoro received brand visibility on all Iron Dog event and race materials. In return, the Iron Dog received sponsorship monies.

Bedard continued, «We’re going to put on a great race. Our job is to continue the tradition of holding the World’s Longest, Toughest Snowmobile Race. Entering into its 27th year this year, we know that the event speaks for itself, and this change in sponsorship allows for fresh new supporters.»

The Iron Dog is scheduled to begin February 21, 2010; With a start in Big Lake and a grueling 2,000 mile trail, finishing in Downtown Fairbanks on February 27, 2010.
