TekVest : The skeptics will be baffled!

Being open minded, I am always ready to try new accessories, parts or clothes.  However, when I have been appointed to test the TekVest, I must say that I did not see how this product could be helpful to a trail snowmobiler like me.

A few years ago, I went to Colorado to test new snowmobile models.  Many other columnists from various american and canadian specialized magazines were present.  As we were getting ready for the tests, most of them put on a body protection vest over their jacket…  I remember thinking they were looking like Goldorak with their plastic-coated shell.  I also thought they were all daredevils if they had to wear such an equipment to go snowmobiling.  However, as I was riding on trails with them, I could see that they were riding just like any other snowmobiler I knew.  So, why would they get burdened with this kind of vest ?

I had these thoughts in mind when I agreed to test the TekVest.  What a surprise did I get !!!

First, unlike other vests I had seen before, the TekVest goes under the jacket.  So, I did not look at all like a Ninja Turtle.  Second, the TekVest is very comfortable and adjustable to the body; I did not feel like a walking balloon.  In fact, nobody could notice that I was wearing it.

Of course, I did not hit a wall of trees to test the protection provided by the TekVest.  However, it was still possible to test its impact protection and this is what I did, assisted by a friend.  The TekVest protects the body from waist to neck, except for the arms.  Whether the shock comes from front, behind or sideways, the vest provides a very good protection against impact, absorbing most of its strength.

My greatest surprise was to see that the TekVest offers arm and neck unrestricted motion when riding my snowmobile.  And I feel so much safer if impact would occur.

Due to all the above, the TekVest is now a basic part of my snowmobiling gear, as important as my helmet.  I was skeptic before my test; today, I am a true fan of the TekVest.
