The Mauricie and Center Québec regions are filled with small places to discover and with activities for groups and families.
The yellow perch, walleye and northern pike fishing on Lac St-Pierre is an easily accessible activity for snowmobilers. The Trans-Québec trail #5 connects directly to Baie-du-Febvre, a nice small village very well known for migration of Canada geese, snow geese and ducks in spring time.
During winter, the trail #5 also connects us to Landroche Road and gives access to an outfitter who will be pleased to offer you full ice-fishing services: fishing cabin, on an hourly or daily basis, hole-cutting, tip-ups and baits. What a wonderful day to come when on this widening of the river, in full sun, we can mix fishing, snowmobile touring, and sunbathing.
Do you wish to eat this fish? No problem. The outfitter will take care of it for you or he will send you to the village restaurant, La Baraka, on the side of Road #138. This restaurant is well known for their tasty fish and geese. La Baraka is a very good table at very reasonable price. Moreover, if you enjoyed your experience and wish to stay longer, you will be referred to very welcoming and comfortable bed and breakfasts.
Each spring, people in Baie-du-Febvre host thousands of visitors who come to admire the sight of migratory birds. So, they created a small and very friendly network of lodging and dining businesses who also host hunters during fall. Also, in winter you will probably be able to watch the snow owls who, from top of their perch, hunt for small rodents moving on the snowy lands of La Commune. La Commune is not a vulgar person, but a way of distributing the lands under the seigniorial system. Under the French regime, there was a common area on the shore of the St. Lawrence River that the seigneur allowed his farmers to use as pasture for their livestock. During your stay, while enjoying a hot chocolate, ask for details and discover the characteristics of this sector located in the middle of old seigneuries dating from the French system.
Parking your vehicle and trailer in Baie-du-Febvre is also very easy. Just ask at La Baraka and you will therefore meet the innkeeper!
Have a nice stay and make wonderful discoveries.
