Snowmobile grass drags raise funds for trail maintenance

This past weekend’s cool, wet weather wasn’t ideal conditions for grass drags near Scotsburn, but it didn’t stop participants from showing off their speed anyway.

About 25 people registered to take part in the Dalhousie Mountain Snowmobile Club’s grass drags held at Meadowville Road Saturday.  Participants came from as far away as New Brunswick and Cape Breton to race their sleds on grass in hopes of winning a prize.

“When we put this event up on Kijji we had 3,000 hits,” said Jason Robinson, president of the Dalhousie Mountain Snowmobile Club. “We had people as far away as Quebec calling us.”

He said having 25 men and women signed up to take part in this event was a good showing, but spectator numbers were down because of the damp weather Saturday.
