On Wednesday January 14, 2015, along with Jacques Bélanger, test pilot for SledMagazine.com since a few years, we met Mr Francis Pierrel, Snowmobile Rental Manager at SM Sport.
We agreed that we would test a 2015 Yamaha RS Venture GT and another Yamaha, the 2015 RS Vector L-TX.
This trial follows an agreement between SledMagazine.com and SM Sport, recreational vehicles dealer since 40 years, distributor of 5 brands : Yamaha, Suzuki, Arctic Cat, Aprilia and Moto Guzzi.
Actually, 4 shareholders are running the business. This recreational vehicles dealer provides, in one of the cities known as « City of Snow », Québec City, up to 50 jobs during peak period.
Mr Robert Bégin, Mr Michel Paradis, Mr Dave Marcotte and Mr Yves Maton are the four shareholders of SM Sport.
Among them, three are working full-time in the dealership. These three employees-shareholders total up to 61 years of experience, 53 of which at SM Sport!
When employees become shareholders of a company, it means many things. Pursuing a career in the recreational vehicles business requires to be passionate.
With 61 years of experience, to advise you for your purchase or to provide customer service, you will be given the attention corresponding to all these years of expertise.
These three employees-shareholders use their expertise in all departments of the enterprise. Also, if you pay attention, you will see them on trails; they are also snowmobilers.

There, asserting myself this way, you easily conclude that I have discovered many features when I tried out this Yamaha snowmobile.
The explanation… In confidence…
For the past three snowmobiling seasons, I rode on trails exclusively on many snowmobile models from the same manufacturer. I rode for only one brand. I also let hundreds of snowmobilers try out most of the models produced by this manufacturer.
This wonderful period means by extension that I did not completely pay attention to the new features brought to other manufacturers’ snowmobiles.
To conclude this confidence… for the 2015 season, with the short-term trials ran for SledMagazine.com, I can see that each of the four snowmobile manufacturers offers its own « riding experience ».
You knew it… Why did’nt you tell me!
In this article, I am presenting my riding experience on the 2015 Yamaha RS Venture GT.
We are riding on a hard-packed rolling trail, the sun is shining, it is -20 °C, the new Tuner ski efficiently eliminates the usual darting of the standard skis offered by manufacturers!
You do not need to add any corrector… at last. Watch for the comments from my colleagues of SledMagazine.com. I am sure that we will comment the performance of these skis during a long-term trial.
For our short-term trial of 130 kilometers, pilots are unanimous; the Yamaha Tuner skis are surprising on the 2015 RS Venture GT as well as on the RS Vector L-TX.
The Electric Power Steering (EPS) minimizes the effort required from shoulders and arms. On a long period, as the tour of the Gaspésie, this supple assistance becomes an important feature.
The riding position, the ergonomics of the controls, the aesthetics, the accessories are all right. I will not comment any further; there are too many rumours that Yamaha is preparing some innovations.
When these innovations will be achieved, Yamaha will have to keep the characteristics that make its reputation : an excellent finish and its legendary reliability.
I enjoyed the engine. This proven 3-cylinder Genesis engine of 1049 cc with injection is another 4-stroke engine that pleases me. The Yamaha YVXC pulleys are a good complement to this harmonious duo : the engine and the clutches.
From the start, a Yamaha model is special.
Throttle responses, clutch reaction mostly at start, the pulleys / gear ratio, all these components are balanced, they go together. There is no flotation. Driving force is equal. The track provides traction according to the previous components!
This 2015 Yamaha RS Venture GT is a trail touring model, a 4-stroke without any odor, silent with a nice gentle sound at start, subtle at cruising speed.
The seat, the suspension, the track of 365,8 cm / 144 in., these three elements form a package that offers very good reactions in moguls as well as in stutter bumps. You can reach the rear compartment without hurting your hands.
