Lately, SledMagazine.com held its 5th annual congress in Monts Valin area, north of Saguenay River. Like each year, collaborators have the opportunity to discuss together and to discover new trails. It even happens that some snowmobiles are put to the test during the event.
In 2016, I had the chance to try out the following snowmobiles :
- 2016 Ski-Doo Renegade Enduro 1200 4-TEC
- 2016 Ski-Doo Renegade X-RS 800 E-TEC
- 2016 Polaris 600 Indy SP TD Series LE
- 2016 Polaris 800 Switchback PRO-S
It has been a very interesting experience. To be able to pilot different models in a short period of time allows us to make comparisons while conditions remain the same. Also, comments received from the other test pilots are quite inspiring. It is important to be able to share our impressions on a snowmobile with enthusiasts (and even, sled maniacs ).
During one ride, we reached Ferme 5 étoiles in Sacré-Cœur. You should include this original place in your future trip. For a night stay, a meal or a pause, you could use this opportunity to observe wildlife and livestock, to enjoy dog sledding or simply to relax.
Testing the 2016 Ski-Doo Renegade Enduro 1200 4-TEC
I rode most of this itinerary on the Renegade Enduro and I have been impressed by its versatility. Thanks to its power, comfort and equipment, its pilot is sure to keep smiling during wonderful long rides !
2016 Ski-Doo Renegade Enduro 1200 4-TEC : no matter the trail or the ride
I will have the opportunity to talk about this machine later in the season. For the moment, I can tell you that this snowmobile fulfilled my expectations. I can’t wait to put it to the test on new trails and in new conditions. Meanwhile, you can visit the following section where actual videos and texts about this machine are presented.
Testing the 2016 Polaris 600 Indy SP TD Series LE
The second part of this ride heading west towards Centre plein-air Mont Vilain, has been achieved on the 2016 Polaris 600 Indy SP TD Series LE. For many reasons, or should I say, for all the reasons that define a snowmobile, this Polaris is totally different from the Ski-Doo Enduro. Considering the 2-stroke engine through the track of 121 in./307,3 cm, everything shows that these two snowmobiles are designed for two different clienteles. This radical change from one model to the other reminds us that there are propably as many different snowmobiles as there are snowmobilers !
The common characteristic for sure is the fun we have to pilot these two machines. Due to its light weight and its track of 121 in./307,3 cm, the great handling of the last one is quickly noticeable. The rather rigid suspension allows a sporty riding. All collaborators who tried it have been amazed by the feels provided by the 600 Indy. Denis Lavoie even made it his best pick of the 2016 Snow Shoot !
Back to our base
During the congress, we stayed at the Auberge du km 31 and as always, we received a professional and friendly welcome. You can get there by trails or by road, so this place can be the central point of your adventure or you can stop for fuel supply, for a meal or to spend the night.

During the photo sessions, I had the chance to ride the 2016 Ski-Doo Renegade X-RS 800 E-TEC and the 2016 Polaris 800 Switchback PRO-S. Conclusion
To begin your season by testing many snowmobiles, with people who share your passion, to stay in a famous establishment… our congresses present only one problem, they happen only once a year !
