Many of you know that for the last few years, SledMagazine.com has been organizing a Touring Convention for their collaborators. This year’s gathering happened last month in the Hautes Laurentides region and I had the chance to be present. Unfortunately, we had fewer participants this year due to the fact that another important event was held in the Monts Valin area and was attended by other members of our organization. Here is a picture of our group posing for posterity.
Mr Yves Therrien, our colleague and guide for this year event, had planned quite a circuit for us where we discovered many attractions of the Hautes Laurentides region. Our tour started from Nominingue towards Mont Laurier, then to the famous Montagne du Diable where the light snow unfortunately blocked the view. With a lunch planned at the Rabaska Lodge, there was just enough time left to visit the also famous Windigo’s Falls.
We used different trails for the return and the first day of our convention ended with a gastronomic dinner at the restaurant of the Auberge de la Vieille Gare in Nominingue. After a good night’s sleep, we all left to explore more trails : P’tit Train du Nord going south to Rivière-Rouge, under the power lines of L’Ascension on trail # 322, the Falls of Lac Curières and a quick visit near a transmission tower.
We went back on the main trail towards Chute St-Philippe, Val-Viger sector, where our lunch today was planned at the Restaurant des Lacs, beautifully located on the shore of Lac Rochon. We received a warm welcome from the owners, Mrs Chantale Émond and Mr Marc Paquette.
You can reach this grill and seafood restaurant, by roads as well as by snowmobile or quad trails. Val-Viger is located about 30 km east of Ferme-Neuve on trail # 322. If you’re planning a trip in this area, it’s nice to know that there is a convenience store and a gas station right next door.
The Restaurant des Lacs offers lunch and dinner in a warm atmosphere from Wednesday through Sunday. The meals are always delicious and the reception is renowned. Every member of our SledMagazine.com team highly recommends it to you.
