ToggleRenegade Enduro 900 ACE 2018 : First Impressions
The Renegade Enduro 900 ACE 2018
Another snowmobile season is finally started! Les Motoneiges Géro, BRP dealership in St-Jean-de-Matha, is now a partner of SledMagazine.com for 2018.
As part of our partnership, the dealer provides us a Renegade Enduro 900 ACE 2018 for a long term test.
I was looking forward to try this snowmobile, so you will now find out my first impressions.
Right from the start, I noticed that the snowmobile is really smooth when driving it. It is very quiet, vibration-free and easy to handle on winding trails. I will be able to tell you more about it after more off-trail or deep snow rides.
The ITC system
The electronic wireless accelerator called ITC (Intelligent Throttle Control) is remarkably soft for the thumb. In addition, it can be rotated to drive with your fingers instead of your thumb.
It is very different from a conventional cable accelerator, the response is faster especially in sport mode.
The ITC system no longer has the compression effect that we had when releasing the throttle.
ITC System
This system has three levels of performance: sport, standard and eco.
In sport mode, accelerations are surprising and the revivals are made without hesitation.
In standard mode, accelerations are more linear. You need to press the throttle further to get accelerations that are closer to sport mode.
I haven't tried ECO mode yet, it is used to reduce fuel consumption.

Transmission and silencer
The transmission is an IDrive 2 and it works very well.
You can hardly hear the engine, which shows the excellent work of the silencer. It offers a beautiful sound that is not disturbing for the environment. Even at a certain speed, you can hear the wind more than the sound of the engine.
The snowmobile has an Ice Ripper track of 137 X 15 X1.25.
This results in better traction and braking than with a conventional track.

Comfort and suspension
The rear suspension is a rMotion with air-controlled shock.
This suspension is noticeably more rigid but very comfortable.
It is very easy to adjust the preload on the springs. The air shock is controlled directly on the handles. It can be continuously adjusted according to trail conditions. I'm still in the suspension adjustments phase, so I'll be able to tell you more about it in my future article.
On the seat, the position is slightly raised, so it is possible to get up quickly when the situation demands it.

Seated positions on the seat
The front suspension is a RAS 2 with HPG Plus shock absorbers.
It's very easy to calibrate, you just turn the ring on the shock absorber with your hands and you don't need any tools. The skis stick very well to the trail.
At the beginning of the season, when the snow cover is not thick, I really appreciated being able to lift the rails to avoid touching the bottom and I can do it with Pilot TS skis.
You will have a full report at the end of the year.

The driver's seat is heated, which is very useful. The heat is well transmitted to the body.

XS Chassis
I drove in really cold temperatures, the deflectors, and the high windshield did their job well. The high windshield does not interfere with vision.

Switches, mirrors
The equipment switches are positioned close to the handlebar on the left side and are backlit. You don’t have to look for them and that way you stay focused on the trail.
Thumb and handle heating switches, air suspension, and multifunction gauge
Another interesting point is how easy it is to adjust the angle of the headlight. You simply open the trunk above the multifunction gauge to find the adjustment lever directly in front of you.
Headlight adjustment
The adjustable rear-view mirrors provide excellent visibility on both sides of the snowmobile and I didn't notice any vibration.

The LinQ system is great, our luggage is securely attached to the snowmobile and everything is easy to use.

I haven't tried all the options of the multifunction gauge yet, but I noticed that it is very easy to read, you can see the information quickly and easily.

Conclusion
So far, I like the snowmobile.
I can't wait to try it out under different conditions and talk about it in my article.
