Renegade Adrenaline 900 ACE : season report

After many thousands of kilometers on our 2014 Renegade Adrenaline 900 ACE, I must say I have no more doubts. I had the opportunity to ride in numerous trail conditions. So I can say today that this is definitively the 4-stroke snowmobile that is the closest to the handiness of a 2-stroke I ever tested.

BRP engineers have been able to produce a remarkably balanced snowmobile. It takes only a few minutes to get acquainted with the Renegade. Even with its 137 in. RipSaw track, this machine is easy to handle in turns, which reinforces my opinion that this track length will soon become the standard on trails. The predictability of the Renegade Adrenaline is one of its most important asssets on trails. The riding position reduces efforts during longer rides and combined with the rear rMotion, it makes this snowmobile just extraordinary to pilot with much less efforts. In some very bumpy conditions, the capability of the front RAS suspension is however a little below the capability of the rear suspension.

I had doubts about the 900 ACE among the 4-stroke engines and about the three engine modes (Eco – Standard – Sport). I do not anymore. According to the usage or conditions, all three modes provide a wide range of possible usages. Regarding consumption, we can reach close to 10 l / 100 km on ECO mode and close to 13 l / 100 km on Sport mode. It is important to note that starting the 900 ACE under very cold temperature is just outstanding, even at -40 °C; buyers of 4-stroke from the north shore of the St-Lawrence are always concerned about it.

It is hard not to talk about the standard and optional features on our sled. One of the innovations this year is the iTC electronic control that provides 3 riding modes and reduces fatigue on the pilot’s thumb. Our trial snowmobile was equipped with many LinQ System accessories such as the 12 l Jerry Can, the 13 l Premium Tunnel Bag Short and the 1+ 1 seat with backrest, all with the LinQ anchor base kit. These accessories are easy to use and the LinQ System can be easily installed by the owner himself in a few minutes.

Even if nothing is perfect in the wonderful world of snowmobiling, we must admit that the Renegade Adrenaline 900 ACE is number 1 among the trail touring machines. Handiness, comfort, performance, fuel economy and a wide range of options and accessories, those are the qualities of this outstanding snowmobile.

Marc Thibeault's passion for snowmobiling is not new. He drove his first snowmobile at the age of 5, on a frozen lake, to the great dismay of his parents. At 18, he already owned his own snowmobile. Two years later, he was practicing this sport more assiduously. For the past 19 years, he has been traveling thousands of kilometers each winter, but this has not prevented him from combining his knowledge of the Internet, his interest in business, his passion for snowmobiling and his family, and in 2002, he created Motoneigistes.com magazine, which is dedicated to this sport. Firmly believing in the need to unite the efforts of the various stakeholders in the field on the WEB, he merged the operations of the magazine with the Magazine motoneiges.ca (presided by Mr. Denis Lavoie) thus creating the largest French-speaking information portal dedicated to the sport of snowmobiling in America. It must be said that Mr. Thibeault has covered many different aspects of snowmobiling. In addition to his involvement in the snowmobile industry on the Web for over 20 years, he has previously worked as a volunteer, sector director and public relations officer for the Club de motoneigistes Saguenay. He was also a tourist guide for snowmobile trips organized for European groups. Finally, he has participated as a columnist and host in several radio and television programs devoted to snowmobiling. He is still the host of the AMS-Motoneiges program on Télémag. In terms of his professional career, Mr. Thibeault works as a senior executive in a major company in the Quebec City area.
