For 2020, Polaris is introducing a brand-new version of the RMK, which was already the star of the American brand. The Khaos RMK is, in my opinion, the new mountain beast of Polaris. Compared to the PRO version, the Khaos behaves like a charm and is much more maneuverable.
The Khaos doesn’t seem very different from the PRO version when you first look at it. But once you get behind the handlebars, that's where you see all the work the engineers did. The Khaos is much easier to learn than the PRO version and is designed for all types of terrain.
Now, let's look at the differences. The first is that Walker Evans Velocity has replaced the shock absorbers. The advantage of these shock absorbers is that they are softer in the first portion. Still, the second portion is firmer, which allows more comfort in small bumps, but is also able to absorb the bigger impacts by gradually getting more firm.
The second significant change in the Khaos, the one that changes the driving experience, is the geometry of the suspension.
All these modifications result in less pressure on the skis, making the snowmobile more maneuverable and fun to drive.
Putting less pressure on the skis and softer shock absorbers means that the snowmobile can now be lowered much more easily than the PRO. However, once you have initiated your movements, you work a little harder to keep your line. The PRO is different, and that's what makes it different because it's very rigid, but once initiated, you can stay in a "Sidehill" without any effort.
These changes make the Khaos more pleasant in both fields and mountains and more adapted for Quebec's conditions. The PRO is more of an extreme mountain version. That's why the Khaos is the snowmobile I choose at Polaris.
